Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I hate being stuck at home.

It is not making things any better. HSHHB says to stay home for baby's naps... Which are every 2 hours so its damn near impossible to get out. Just adding to my stress level is all...

Once he wakes up,  can you not go out then?  You would have 2 hours...a  friends house, a store, just a drive...

  • Its just a PiTA to get him ready to go out because its so cold outside. And we live in BFE so it takes a while to get anywhere. It just doesn't make sense to go anywhere.
  • Why don't you just go out then? You know yourself and your baby better than a book. It's good and healthy for you both to get out, when your baby is tired he/she will sleep no matter where you guys are.

  • Is there a mall nearby that you could get to?  Even a stroll through Target could be a nice break.  I have found mommy groups to be another great way to get out and talk to other people with my LO in hand.  These work out so well because I can bf during the meetings and you can come and go as you need to since everyone completely understands the need for naps etc.  Do you have a group near you?  Your hospital may be able to recommend one (or a quick search on google might pull something up).

I now find that DD gets cranky if we stay in all day without getting out for an hour or two.  We're lucky to have good weather where I live so everyday I try to take her out for a walk in her stroller or Baby Bjorn.  But, even if it's raining, I'll take her to an indoor place just for a change of scenery--It's good for me and for her!  Good luck on getting out for a bit!

  • I know HSHHB says to stay home for the naps but I have found that if baby is due for a nap and we go out, he'll still have it. sometimes you have to still run errands and people are usually good about being quiet around a sleeping baby.

  • The issue is that we are working on his sleeping problems so I'm trying just about everything. He doesn't sleep well out and about... This is what is best for him right now even if it suck for me.
  • I do too but it's logistics, not a book. It's frigging cold out there and we don't have a car. I expect to be homebound for most of the winter.
