Babies on the Brain

Halp me

I need need makeup.  Tell me what to buy.  I have very fair skin, but I have freckles--that I like.  I tried Bare Minerals, but they cover the freckles, and thus, made me appear whiter than I am, which is hard to do considering I am whiter than most white folks.  So that is out.  Other than that, what is a good, light weight, not break the bank foundation?

Re: Halp me

  • I have very fair skin and wear Origins. It's great, not greasy, and stays on all day. I think it's ~ $16/bottle.

  • I would have suggested Bare Minerals cause I just got some a few weeks ago and love it.

Since I don't have a suggestion I just wanted to say that I love that you DON'T want to cover your freckles.  My friend has them and I think they're so cute but she always complains about them.

  • I don't know how much coverage you want/need but I use tinted moisturizer.  It helps to even out my skin but it's light enough that you can still see through it.

  • Avon Loose Powder.

I use transluscent {I have very very olive skin}.  I think it is $6?

I love it.  I've used it for years.

ETA: it is $9.00.  They have the transluscent listed under "light," but I use it without any issues.  It gives minimum coverage but evens my skin out.

  • I use NARS pressed powder foundation.  It's not the cheapest, but the compact lasts quite a while.
  • Are you using the Bare Minerals foundation or the Mineral Veil?

The foundation will cover your freckles but the Mineral Veil should just put a more finished look to your face without covering your freckles.

  • Do you really need foundation? Unless you have a lot of blotchy redness or discoloration, you would be better off spot treating since you have freckles.  I love my BM- I have a few freckles myself, and only use the "foundation" to touch up under my eyes, then I LIVE on the Warmth.
  • For foundation I use Clinique City Block.  It's very translucent.  Their Almost Makeup is a little thicker.  Both have sunscreen.  Unless I'm having a zitty day I don't wear powder.

I had it done at Sephora.  Home girl went to town on my face.  I just need something for under my eyes, they are a little dark, and the jawline where I run a little ruddy.  And to cover the occasional zit.

  • I like Clinique Almost Powder. I can still see my beauty marks and a few freckles but covers the redness.
