XP: scheduled C-section WWYD?

I scheduled my c-section for 2/15 today, but DH isn't happy with the date.  My due date is 2/19, so if we did it on the 2/12, which is a Friday, we would be in the hospital over the weekend and he would have more of his limited time off at home with us (important consideration since I am anxious about caring for #1 while healing from the C).  However, my mom will also be able to help when DH goes back to work. 

Problem is that the doctor I wanted is the one who delivered DD.  I feel comfortable with her, she did a good job last time, I just plain don't want a different doctor to do the C.  My doctor is not available on the 12th - but is available the 15th, which is why I chose that date.  DH thinks I'm being silly by insisting on this particular doctor since any in the practice *could* do it.  WDYT?

    I think HE'S being silly for disregarding your (valid) feelings on wanting a familiar doctor to do your c/s because it's more convenient for him to do it another day.  You'll have your mom to help, so it's not like you'll be alone.

    In the end it's your choice, imo.  What matters more to you- a few more days with DH or the doctor you want and are comfortable with?  For me, having my OB who I adore do my c/s was most important, no matter the date.

    I am attempting a VBAC, so I know that it is possible that I could have to have an emergency c-section with whichever doctor is on call.  However, if I were going to schedule a CS (which might happen if this baby doesn't come meet us soon!) I would definitely choose the date based on my favorite doctor's schedule.  It's a major surgery, and I want to be as comfortable as possible.

    Thanks for the support ladies!  I went ahead and confirmed the 2/15 date so I can have the Dr. I want.  So, unless LO has other plans and decides to come before that I guess his birthday is set.  Squee!

    I think that anything could happen.  My section was scheduled for one date and we had everything lined up for care for DD#1 and DD#2 decided to come earlier.  However, tell DH you tried to schedule for the 2th to make thngs easier for him but the hospital does not do scheduled sections on Fridays ;) (wink wink).  A little fib won't hurt and if anyone says anything otherwise, you just gripe and say "guess the person I spoke to had no clue!"  Good luck with section and enjoy your lats 5-6 weeks before LO arrives.
