I see it mentioned on the tri boards and on PgAL, but my doctor has never mentioned one. I called the nurse out of curiosity since my next appointment is scheduled for 12 weeks. She said they only do an NT scan if you are considered high risk. I'm fine with not getting one (because it means I'm low risk), but they seem so common from reading the other boards.
Anyone else not get an NT scan?
Re: NT Scan
A lot of it depends on your age. If you're under 30 (or even early 30's), more than likely they won't do one.
I had one done because I was 39 when I got pregnant, so at that age, it was highly recommended.
natural m/c and d&c at 10 weeks - 1/24/2014
DX w/ hetero C677t and A1298C MTHFR - 3/4/2014
I'd have to go to B'ham too - for any of the add'l tests that most over 35 women get. I'm now 35 and B and I decided it's in God's hands and we'd just worry more if we went and spent a day there and got all those tests. Now I'll probably have to do it for the next pregnancy as I want to wait 3-4 yrs between children.
Your OB is right, it's usually for high risk or women over 35.
