Re: decreased movement...

  • I called a few weeks ago for the same question. They said as long as you don't go 5-6 hrs with no movement, it's OK. They can get themselves in weird positions. He could be kicking your placenta so you don't feel it.

Of course, I'm not a doctor. If you're nervous - call. That's what they're there for! Wink

  • Last month, I had some decreased movement and when I went in and saw the dr she hooked me up to a fetal monitor and press a button every time I felt anything. Afterwards, she told me that sometimes your body gets used to the sensation and its not as noticeable as the first few times you felt them. She also said that if I felt the same way again to have a cold glass of juice or water, and sit and relax or even lie down for an hour, don't do anything (no tv, no book reading or chatting, etc) so you can concentrate on feeling movement no matter how light they are and count them to see if you get at least 10 an hour. If I didn't get 10, I was to call and they would have me come in and see what was going on. So I'd give that a try and if you aren't noticing at least 10 in an hour, give your dr a call.
  • Not to be alarmist, but call your doctor NOW. If they aren't open yet, do a kick count (lie quietly and make sure you can count 10 movements in an hour). If you pass the kick count, call your doc as soon as they open. If you fail the kick count, call your doc's after hours number. I'm sure your baby is fine, but better safe than sorry. Also, if something were wrong, the sooner the doctors know about it the better!

  • If it's decreased enough to ask here I'd call to be safe. They can hook you up to monitors and see. I have an anterior placenta so I've had issues feeling movements all along and they've just done u/s or hooked us up to the NST when I hadn't felt any movements.
  • I just saw that you're only 27 weeks. I'd still do a kick count and call your doctor, but 27 weeks is still fairly early for consistent movement, if I recall correctly.

  • If you can, go in for a NST today.  It'll make you feel better!  I had to yesterday because of "lazy" movements only from LO (barely felt much for 24 hrs.)  All was well and I felt better knowing!

  • This exact thing happened to me earlier this week. I called the Dr. and they had me come in for an NST. Baby was moving like crazy during the test- of course. I told them I felt silly and they were very serious when they said to call any time you are worried. That is what they are there for.

That was a super cool solution to use the fetal monitor to determine if it was LO or you.  I also do the "lay down and focus" thing when I realize I haven't noticed him in a while.
