We owe $1280.00 by the 7th month of pregnancy. The total charge is $2300 (insurance covers the difference). It could be much worse. We are racking up the other bills too (pap, bloodwork, etc). Thank God for the 8k first time homebuyer credit we should get in February.
This estimated delivery charge letter makes it so much more real. I am having a baby, omg.
Anyone else gotten theirs yet?
Re: Got my estimated delivery charge bill
We got ours at our second appointment.
We owe $200 by some time. I can't remember which month though....
Goodness...prices seem so high. Even with insurance. DH is active duty military and we don't even see a bill. By the time everything is said and done, we'll have paid about $20 for food costs in the hospital.
I might seem dumb asking, but are those normal estimates?
I'm lucky to have very good health care with Kaiser. We just looked up our costs and all OB visits, labor, 1st postpartum appt, etc is all at no charge.
Unless we are reading it wrong and there are other charges we will be looking at a very small cost, which I am ecstatic about!
We will be meeting our deductible with the $1280. I am jealous of all y'alls awesomer insurance.
I'm with you here. We were military...but now we're not and I haven't even started seeing the doc. Now I'm thinking OMG!
I think I'm going to ask about it at my next appt. I'm a tad confused about it all.
I don't blame you. These prices are kind of scary. I've never seen a bill and I get an U/S at every visit. I'm not HR it's just how they like to do things unless you say otherwise. I couldn't imagine how much we would have racked up in costs so far. Did you guys retire out and get the TriCare Standard (I think it's Standard, I can't remember. We're a LONG way from retirement still.) I think even once DH retires and we're out medical will still be an OMG for us at the rate I'm seeing.
Y'all got me wondering, so I looked at my insurance benefits. I don't understand them at all. And my OB has never mentioned charges... and has never collected a copay. I'm starting to get worried that we'll be handed a massive bill at the end.
I guess I need to get on the phone and start getting some answers.
I'm going to make an AWESOME big brother.
My OB's office has you meet with one of the girls in the financial office pretty early on to figure out your benefits and how much you are responsible for. Not sure what we'll be needing to pay yet, but luckilly my benefits year resets in April, so I will be able to adjust my FSA contributions to be able to cover the estimated expensed for the delivery.
wow, I am shocked at the bills that everyone is having to pay. We paid our $15.00 co pay at my first OB visit - that was it.
We saw the hospital/OB/ped bills which totalled over 40K!
