Two Under 2

So none of my old maternity clothes fit me!!!

I am so pissed.  I really cant wear normal pants anymore and I am sick of the stupid bella band, but my old maternity clothes are way too big.  I started off 20 lbs less then what I was when I got pregnant with DS#1 and I got HUUUGE with him, so all my maternity clothes are large and XL.

I went to Kohls today and bought just a few mediums off their maternity clearance rack but it will totally suck if I have to purchase a whole new maternity wardrobe.

  • I think this is going to happen with me too. I'm still hoping to be able to wear the tops and just get new jeans and capris. I'm so glad to be starting this pregancy at a lower weight though. That will ease the pain of spending a bunch of $$ on new clothes!

  • Do you have any friends or relatives you can share with? Between one of my bf's and my SIL, I haven't had to buy much at all. We all pooled our clothes together and have been circulating them amongst us.
  • Do you have in consignment stores near you that carry maternity?  I think I'm going to have to buy new pants this time too because mine are way too loose.

  • I also started my 2nd pregnancy weighing less than my first (about 15 lbs) and there were a few weeks that were really frustrating.  I managed to get by with postpartum shirts that had extra room in them, and stretchy waist band pants.  I also bought a couple inexpensive pairs of yoga pants that I lived in for awhile!

I'm at 34 weeks now, though, and I'm wearing most of those clothes that I was sure would be way too big.  So don't get rid of them...though you may need a temporary solution in the meantime.

  • I had the opposite happen. I was 10 pounds heavier when I got pregnant with #2 and also got much bigger with him than I did the first time around. So I had to go out and get all bigger clothes. But I was lucky and found a great second hand maternity store and got tons of stuff there for really cheap. (It was actually a second hand toy store that had a small section of maternity clothes). Walmart.com has maternity stuff (online only) and it is cheap and the quality wasnt actually too bad. I got some stuff there too.
  • I was also almost 20 pounds lighter at the beginning of this pg, so this happened to me, too, but I wasn't mad.  I thought it was great!  I am thinking my biggest old clothes will work at the end of the pg.  I went ahead bought four pairs of pants and a few shirts already in smaller maternity size.
