Best place to register?

In your opinion, where is the best (or worst) place to register based on return policies, amount of selection, sales/discounts and anything else that can make registering pleasant or unpleasant?

While registering for my wedding, I really liked Bed, Bath and Beyond's return policies and discounts which makes me wonder if Buy Buy Baby would be a good place to register.

What do you think about Babies R Us?  Or any of the other major baby stores?

Re: Best place to register?

  • We only have 1 buy buy baby in our area and it is about 45 min away from me! I'd love to register there too, but I am just going to stick with BRU for now...

I'd love to hear everyone else's opinions too!

  • I am registering at Amazon.com and absolutely love it. You can add things onto it from other websites. Example, the bedding I want can't be purchased through amazon but I was still able to add it to my registry using their universal registry button. Good prices, on most things and the selection is huge. I don't know about the return policy though, not without a receipt. I assume guests can get a gift receipt though so it shouldn't be an issue.
  • I love BRU, they are great with returns.  If you register there, after your due date they send you a coupon for 10% off everything on your registry (before you go in to spend the coupon, update your registry even if it is that day, they still give you the discount.)  Target has some cute stuff, but horrible with returns, creates quite the headache.  I like Buy, Buy, Baby, but there are not many around.  BRU in my area has started taking non expired Bed,bath, beyond coupons for the 20% off one item, something else to try.

I bet Amazon has an amazing selection.  And things tend to be cheaper on there than in other places too.  Hmm... I may consider doing this.  I've never heard of someone registering on Amazon though.  The only downfall I can think of is that there isn't a physical store to go to... everything would have to be ordered online, right?

  • Buy Buy Baby appearantly has something against Cali!

  • I'm registered at both BRU and Target. So far, BRU has been really great but Target has been a major PITA! BRU is so much more friendly and professional then Target. I wish I could tell Target to "shove it" but I need to keep both because we only have on BRU in our area and it may be too far away for some people. GL!
  • We don't have a Buy Buy Baby so it's out of the question for us :o( I've been told from friends who just had their babies that they preferred BRU to Target. We've already started a registry at Amazon (for my BRU-phobic friends) and it's nice because you can include some non-traditional stuff like Disney movies. We also registered at Pottery Barn Kids because our bedding set is from there and they give you an extended return period if you register, plus they offer the 10% completion discount from your event date (which you can set as a shower date). We'll register in the next month at BRU for the essentials.
  • I'm probably going to register at BRU and Buy Buy Baby. There are a few items at Buy Buy Baby that I love that aren't sold at BRU.

  • I'm registered at BRU and Target, but honestly, you should register wherever is most convenient for you and your guests (if you are having a shower). Everyone on here has had problems with and/or love one over the other, so I wouldn't really trust the opinions that other people tell you (if you did, you wouldn't register anywhere lol). Good luck!

This. Our friends and family will have a hard time getting to BBB and they tend to prefer going to an actual store to physically buy something and wrap it up versus ordering online. Since BRU is more readily available and there are more stores in our area than BBB, we've registered with BRU and also Target.

I would have liked to have registered at BBB as originally planned but it wouldn't have been easy for friends and family.

  • I think im nervous to do Amazon, only because my mom wants to throw me a shower with a bunch of Church ladies, and i know they won't want to go online for anything.

Then don't make it your primary registry. Use it to pick up items that you can't find at the other stores or other specialty items.

  • I'm not sure how the etiquette goes with registering at multiple locations... how much is TOO much?

  • I think I'm in the minority on this one. I registered at Target. They have a surprisingly good selection here. I haven't had any problems with their return policy. I've returned several things without receipts. I've even returned stuff in the store that they only sell on-line. It's been a snap. I don't have a Buy Buy Baby here and I'm really not impressed with Babies R Us. They seem to be more expensive than Target and they don't like to do returns without receipts.

Thanks for asking! I was wondering this too b/c I was thinking we'd just register at BRU and Target. But now I found everything I like for the decor/bedding (not furniture) in the nursery (which I was hoping to include on the registry b/c of finances) from JCPenney. I've looked briefly at myregistry.com, which I thought would be nicer to just put one name of a registry, but I think that might scare off the not-so-tech-savvy friends/family. I was thinking 2 places was ok, but does 3 sound like a lot? Hmmm...
