A good friend of mine (in her 30s) spells it like that. I don't think it's a newly made up spelling by any means. And it's how Elisabeth Hasselbeck spells it. I think it's fine.

This was my initial thought. I got a birth announcement with this name on it today and had not seen it before! I think it's pretty but Elizabeth is so classic that I don't know...
I like it! I dont think it is youneek! I have seen a few Elizabeth's and a few Elisabeth's. You cant go wrong with either a S or a Z. It's a gorgeous name!

Honestly I like EliSabeth so much more than EliZabeth-I don't know why. Maybe it's because I'm not super fond of Liz as a nn, and Elisabeth doesn't lend itself to Liz.

Both are accepted. And yeah, she'll have to tell people its with an s and not a z, but how hard is that? I have to spell my first and last names out all the time for people. Sometimes several times.
I know a Dr in her early 30s and a Therapist in her 50s both with the spelling Elisabeth. Its not "youneek" It ends up slightly softer pronounciation. I like it.
Going to a French school, the only I saw it spelled was with an s. It's on our list as well (with an s) but if you're in the states where it could be mispelled you may want to use the z.

I struggle with this one. We plan to give our 1st daughter the mn Elizabeth/Elisabeth, named after someone who had the mn Beth. I can't decide on the spelling! I like both!

Definitely not youneek. And for those that say "She'll have to spell it" well there are a ton of ways to spell every name these days so our kids are all going to be quite used to spelling their names for others.
Re: Elisabeth with an s: youneek or pretty?
yoooooooooooooneek.
To me, you can't mess with a classic like this.
This was my initial thought. I got a birth announcement with this name on it today and had not seen it before! I think it's pretty but Elizabeth is so classic that I don't know...
She'll ALWAYS have to say "with an s, not a z."
That's always super irritating. That means it is not the "correct" spelling, if you will.
According to the BabyName Wizard, it's actually the standard spelling in most European countries (listed are Germany, France, Sweden, and Belguim).
So no, not unique, but most people in the US will assume the 'z' spelling.
Both.
Ditto. I like Elisabeth, but agree it will get much more frequently misspelled here in the States.
This.
Oh and yes - this is true. I do have to say that but I also have to spell my first name every.single.time - so it doesn't really bother me.
This. It's the German and Dutch version of Elizabeth. Not trendy or misspelled.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Very pretty.
It's a less common spelling in the United States, but it's perfectly valid and I don't consider it Youneek at all.

i agree. good luck!
Pretty!!
Not a youneek spelling at all, just the Euro one...and I like it better than with a z.
