I'm at work - I just tried to find baby's heartbeat with our doppler here at work. I couldn't find it. I'm not worried at all. I honestly don't know where to put the doppler to find it.
Anyone know where they normally find fetal heart tones at 10 weeks?
Re: Doppler at 10 weeks?
I was able to hear the h/b with our doppler around 10w, it was very low like pubic bone area and I usually found it towards my left ovary. At 9w my OB couldn't find it with the doppler and I may have just gotten lucky when I tried it, it could still be early.
Edit: Oops, just looked at my calendar, I was actually 12 weeks when I found it at home, Dr. couldn't find it at our 11w appt. So, it is still early!
Really really low, like just above the hairline.
It is still early though. Some OBs don't even try for a couple more weeks.
Still too early to actually hear anything on a doppler. My OB did n't even try til I was close to 14 weeks.
If you really want to try though I was able to find it with my home doppler by placing the wand very low on my pelvic region. Although I wasn't able to find it at home til 13 weeks.
I found mine at 9w5d, but it was after looking for a good 30 minutes. That was after two unsuccessful tries the day before. And I had a couple unsuccessful tries after that. But now I can get it pretty quickly nearly everytime, as I've figured out where my sweet spot is (about in inch above my pelvic bone, 2-3 inches to the left of center).
You should be laying down completely flat, and if you haven't poo'd in a while it might be blocking things. Good Luck.
haha - yeah this might be the prob. Plus I was standing up when I was trying to find it.
Mine was found center, just above the hairline. It is still really low. I only find it laying down and go REALLY slow. Also, use the gel stuff, it helps transmit the sound. And I found relaxing helps. The first few times I was a little anxious that I would not find it, but I could feel the tension ease as I chilled more and realized that it was really no indication of my babe's status. Once I found it, sometimes it fades in and out b/c the little stinker likes to move around and mess with me.
My husband loves to make the noise with his mouth which makes me lol and does not help in finding the hb but worth the laugh...
