I'd appreciate anyone who can tell me about an OB at Mt. Sinai that they either love/loved or hate/hated, and if anyone who has delivered there can tell me what they thought.
I go to Dr. Alex Tepper who delivers at Mt. Sinai. Haven't delivered there yet, so can't really speak about the hospital, but I did have to go for some monitoring to labor and delivery and although the place was under construction and not very pretty to look at the nurses were very kind. Dr. Tepperi s a sole practicioner who I think is pretty great. I switched from Mt. Sinai OB GYN (Dr. Kremer) around 12 weeks because it felt like a factory, and I just wasn't getting a good feeling from the place. I am very happy with Dr. Tepper though, and I never thought I'd go to a male OB/GYN! 212-828-0900 Good luck!
Thanks Twilo! Good luck, and I'd love to hear how it went with Dr. Tepper and Mt. Sinai after you've delivered. I actually have an appt with him on 1/4. Question: I know he's solo, so who delivers you if he's not available?
I delivered at Mt Sinai last year. Loved it! The L&D room is small but the nurses were really supportive and helpful. My husband wanted to stay over so we got a private room which I thought was worth the $$. All the nurses were extremely helpful. Ask for the lactation consultant on call if you plan to breastfeed. I LOVED LOVED my ob's as well, Brasner, Blumberg and Amaru, however they dont take insurance anymore so I will not be able to use them again. All women practice.

So funny! I was there on 1/4 too in the evening! How did your appt. go?
If he's not available he uses another practice (I think Carnegie Hill or something like that) that his phone service will direct you to. When I asked this though he said he is rarely not available barring any family emergencies or pre-planned vacations, because he only takes you on as a patient if he is not jam packed with other women delivering around the same time. He tries to work his schedule so that he usualy always available.
