Success after IF

Cornell Ladies -- co-culture

Would you tell me your experiences?  Who does it?  Does it hurt?  Will they let you take drugs?  Details?

I'm probably going to go through this at the end of the month and while I'm no longer nervous about most things dealing with IVF, I've never had this done.

Thanks!

  • spandie did mine (I love him!) to be honest, yes, it hurts. he scrapes your uterus and it's very awkward. the pain is quick though. I suggest taking some good meds before the procedure. lots of deep breathes as well. maybe a bit of valium too.  ;)

may I ask why are you having it done? who is your RE?

  • just butting in so I can find this later....  my SIL has a consult at Cornell on Monday to talk about co-culture, among other things...    so I'm anxious to get more info for her!    (she's the one with the link in my siggy).
Brought to you by IVF, ICSI, limited fert, and oocyte cryopreservation.
    Because we're fancy like that.

Dr. Spandorfer is my RE.  I love him too.  I assume I'm getting it done because I've had multiple failed IVFs (with a different doctor).  However, he was not discouraged at all by this so I'm very excited.  He literally said to me that there is no reason why it shouldn't work... so I'm trying to be optimistic!

  • I had it done for my last cycle - it was a little painful, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be (or pp told me!)

I compared it to a really uncomfortable pap.

My RE did mine (Dr. Chung) - I love him!  They have to do it about a week after you ovulate.  In my case where I don't ovulate, they put me on estrogen patches for two weeks, then Dr. Chung did a lining check, then we layered on endo supps and a week later I had co-culture done.

I went straight from the endo supps to my lupron to start my IVF cycle.

Let me know if there is more info you need

  • I "think" Dr. Spandorfer does all of the co-cultures, but, I could be wrong.

Did it hurt?  I guess it did, but, really, for me, not much and it was very quick.  Basically, they snip off a piece of your uterine lining.  I was very worried and felt a brief pinch/pain and then it was done.

I can't remember if I took anything, but, if I did, it was just like three motrin and, I swear, I was fine!
