Bleeding alot after internal!

in 3rd Trimester
Is this normal? I am almost 40 weeks...my OB did my internal and I am about 2 cm dilated...He said blood is normal for a day or two.  I heard of spotting a little after internals, but mine is almost like a period flow.  It is bright red and there is a lot.  Is this something to be worried about?

    The dr I saw today did an internal and said that if it's more than a regular period, to just go to L&D.  If you're worried, at least call your doctor - they'll be able to tell if you it's something to get checked out or not.

    I wouldn't worry too much unless you totally soak a pad. I had an internal yesterday, and my OB told me to come in if I had more than one full pad of bleeding.

    I would definitely call or just go in.  That sounds like a lot more than "a little bleeding" that I was told to expect.

    Bright red, especially that much, means you need to call immediately!! They may tell you to call 911. I don't mean to scare you and it could be nothing, but it is not something to mess around with.

    I would get it checked because my doc told me that brown spotting is normal but if it is red and alot then go right away.

    Scary!  Call Dr. ASAP, you may have a placenta issue which could be very dangerous and require immediate attention.

    I had an internal on Monday (at 38 weeks) and was 3 cm and 50% effaced.  After I had a good deal of bleeding (also like a period).  I was fine with that but at one point I checked the pad and there were some big blood clots there (sorry for TMI).  I called to make sure it was ok and they said that it was normal and unless I got severe cramps or the bleeding increased beyond period like I was fine.  Yesterday it turned to a brownish red and eventually faded.  Today it's very slight brown tinted disharge but pretty much over. 

    I'd call just for the peace of mind because I know it helped me but I'm sure you are fine.
