So about 2 wks. ago I started feeling movement sporadically. At first, I didn't even really know that's what it was. It progressively got more distinct and frequent. I loved feeling movement since I had little to no other symptoms...it kept me reassured everything was still ok.
Then last week I stopped feeling movement at all and haven't since. It's been 6 days. I had a regular appt. last week and the dr. assured me that was normal at this stage of pregnancy b/c the baby was still so small. That calmed my nerves for a few days but started to get really nervous again last night when I still felt nothing.
Stupidly, last night I picked up the doppler my friend loaned me. I've never been able to hear a hb on it but always heard swishing, thumps, etc. Last night it was silent, even after a battery change. (FREAK, I know)
Today my co-workers convinced me to tall the drs. office. I expected them to say calm down, everything's fine, blah blah blah. Instead they told me they wanted to see me immediately, which really sent me into complete panic mode. I cried uncontrollably up until the dr. found the heartbeat.
The nice part was the drs. and nurses were all really cool about it and didn't give me attitude or a hard time. They did tell me to get rid of the cheap doppler before it drives me crazy. I feel really dumb!!
Re: overreacted today and feel stupid :(
I tend to have freak-outs too, especially if it's been awhile between appts. I hope you start feeling the baby move all the time very soon!!
(and that's why I didn't get a doppler, even though it is tempting.)
Don't feel dumb at all! I felt LO kick at 17 wks. Literally, I didn't feel him again until 20 wks! I don't know what happened. I started feeling him consistently at 21 wks. You are getting so close.
I questioned my OB up and down about this too. She said it's normal. I'm glad you called instead of being so worried! And, DON'T USE A DOPPLER! I have really steered clear of it for that reason......it can give you reassurance OR a heart attack. Too big of a risk for me

Don't feel stupid. If I didn't have an appt. Monday, I'd probably do the same thing. I'm a few days ahead of you and the same thing is happening to me.I was feeling them a lot and their movements were getting stronger, then it sort of slowed down. I keep telling myself it's normal but I still second guess their movements for something else, especially since they like to move as I'm falling asleep.
