    My kids don't go to daycare or classes or anything like that, so it is just family and family friends at their parties anyway.

    For DD, it was just us and my mom. She won't get "friend" parties till she starts school. For DS this year, we had a 1/2 birthday since his birthday is in November and he wanted an outside party. We invited 4 of our neighborhood kids to come along with their parents. Then on his actual birthday, it was just us and my mom and we did a couple of small gifts and cake (so he'll still feel special on his day). Next year, he might be able to invite some classmates if he asks.

    For DS's first birthday, I invited almost all the kids from our mommy group.  For his second birthday, it will just be family.
