DD turns 2 on March 19 and DS turns 1 on March 21st. So we will be doing a joint bday party on Saturday March 20th.
Any theme ideas come to mind?
Should they have their own cake?
I was thinking of sugar and spice along with snakes and snales but not sure if that is kind of "mean" to DS.
Re: joint birthday parties
My kiddos could very well end up that close in Bdays! Anyhoo.......would your 2yo care much if you just did a BBQ at home? You could have a sheet cake and have them decorate one 1/2 one way, the other half, another?
I would think themes will be hard to consolidate when they get older becuase of course next year you'll have a very opnionated 3yo lol but this year you could do something neutral if you needed some theme..............like Springtime or Bugs in general?
I'd take the 2 yr old shopping at a party store and let DD pick out something gender neutral that she likes (Elmo, etc)
I'd let it be something she'll enjoy and get a kick out of because she'll actually understand what's going on and your 1 yr old will have no clue. Frankly your guests won't care much if their plate has Elmo, Thomas, or a teddy bear on it.
My vote is cupcakes so everyone has their own cake. Can't deny a 1 yr old the chance to get face down in some cake! And the 2 yr old should be able to blow out her own candles with some supervision.
And... I'm too lazy to cut cake for everyone while I've got 2 toddlers running around so cupcakes work much better in general.
No way would I combine their parties again after this year. At 3 DD is gonna want something that she's into and it's not likely to be anything your Son will be into.
