So I?m new to the site. My Husband and I decided after almost a year of marriage that we were ready to give this a real try. So here I am and I?m totally overwhelmed. There is a plethora of information on this site and I don?t even know where to begin! I see there are tons of abbreviations people use ? can someone give me a run down? It would really help me out in trying to understand this new language!
I have take some really big steps to get ready for this, stopped taking BC almost a year ago, stopped drinking alcohol 6 months ago, started taking Pre-Nexa (Prenatal Vitamins) about 3 months ago and now I all of a sudden have this gut wrenching feeling that I?m never going to get pregnant. I have super irregular cycles, 1 month it could be 28 days, the next it could be 34! I went and bought the Clearblue Easy Ovulation Predictor and I plan on trying this starting tomorrow (9th day after the first day of my last period). I am hoping this might help shed some light on when I?m ovulating.
Sorry for the entirely long rant, but it would be great to talk to some ladies out there in the same boat who might know more than me. I?m the first out of my close friends that are taking this leap and I can?t talk to them about it because I don?t want the pressure.
And advice would be so welcome!!

Re: New to the Bump...Help? Advice so welcome...
Welcome! First of all, there is a bump glossary on the left hand side under my boards...that should help you with the abbreviations!
Second, I have very irregular cycles too. I've been off BCP (birth control pills) since last January and still am not "regular". I've found that charting helps me understand what's going on with my body...follow the link in my siggy to fertilityfriend.com. They have tutorials to help explain everything to you!
GL to you! (Good Luck!)
my cycles have always been from 28-35 days. not abnormal at all.
i use the clear blue easy fertility monitor (cbefm) and i love it. i never used opk's.
look at the bottom of the green section on the left and you should find a glossary for the abbreviations.
welcome and good luck.

stopping alcohol consumption will not increase your chances of pregnancy.
there is a glossary link to the lower left of the screen.
My cycles ranged from 30 to 55 days, THAT is irregular. If you chart your temps you will see that yours are probably just fine, go here www.fertilityfriend.com and read the tutorials.

Ditto this!
Your cycles don't sound bad at all. Have fun and enjoy!
Welcome! I'm in the same boat as far as being the first of my friends, so this is a great place to come and chat about all things TTC so I won't talk about it in real life. Lurk around and you'll learn a lot
Welcome and good luck!!

Hi Everyone!
Wow, I can?t believe the immediate response, you all are wonderful!!
I probably should have added a bit more information on the ?irregularity? part of the problem. I can go as long as 2-3 months between my cycles, which has happened in the past few years and to top it off when I do ovulate I normally get ovarian cysts which I can feel (dull pain I always get). I?ve talked to my Gyno about it and he doesn?t seem alarmed at all ? I on the other end think that this is probably not good, especially from what I?ve read online ? though it?s hard to know what to trust out there.
As for the alcohol ? I do realize that not drinking will not increase the chances of becoming pregnant. What it does increase is a healthier body, less weight and empty calories and a lesser chance of anything bad happening if I do become pregnant. To top it off, all of our friends are big drinkers. So I had to quit a long time ago, so that I could get used to the feeling of not being able to drink and my friends getting used to the idea that I didn?t drink ? so then if I did get pregnant they wouldn?t know it off the bat. I guess I like to constantly think into the future ? and probably too much for my own good!!
Does anyone else have Ovarian Cyst issues?
I will definitely take a look at the glossary list ? thanks for the heads up on that one! Haha! I need all the help I can get.
Thanks so all so much from the bottom of my heart ? this is truly amazing!! I really hope that I can connect with some of you even more!

I was told before I was on BC that I had Ovarian Cysts. I had horrible horrible mid-cycle pain and was told that I had cysts 'bursting' (don't know if this is true or not) by the MD who read my ultrasound. Who knows, but it got better with BC and now that I'm on my first cycle off BC we'll see what happens. I got a lot of conflicting information from different MDs. Hope things go well for you!
I just got off BC the first week of November, and am still on my first cycle. At times I just want to start spewing off info/venting to whichever friend I am around, but I always manage to hold it in because I know I will regret it later. We don't want anyone to know we are actively TTC. I'm trying not to overwhelm my DH either, so I just come on here and lurk and post and it helps a lot to not talk about it to anyone else!
You are right on the Money about the cysts. They were probably bursting. It happens to me all the time. The told me to get on BC, but honestly, i hated BC. I could never remember to take the stupid pill and it really didn't make me feel 100% better.
I ended up having emergency surgery 3 years ago because i had one burst really bad - great times let me tell you.
You might be luck and not have to worry about it for a few months after getting off the BC.
Good Luck Lady!!
BTW - how are you coping and pasting the previous section of a conversation in the body of your text?
Go to whoever's post you want to quote, and go to the bottom right hand side of the post and click on 'quote'.
And I hope I won't have to worry about any cysts. I went to the MD today to talk about being at almost CD60 with no ovulation/period and she had no interest in my past history of those and that my previous Midwife thought I had symptoms of endometriosis. Oh well. Onward. Good luck to you!
Wow - its so glad to know i'm not alone here. I was kind of afraid that I was going to sound like a nut because i'm all over this TTC thing. I just can't help it because i'm so excited to try things out - ya know?
