My dd will be 19 months when I have baby number 2. She knows there is a baby in my belly but I dont think she really gets it. I have heard people talk about give a gift to baby number 1 but not sure how to do it or what to give. I would love some advice on how to perpare my DD for her new brother.
Thanks
Re: did you give child 1 a gift when you had child 2?
Yes, I did both times, but for the younger ones, they don't really get it.
I don't remember what we bought DD#1 when DD#2 was born, but for DD#1 and DD#2 we bought dolls and strollers when DS was born........
Honestly, there's no real preparing for a child so young. I didn't really start talking about a new baby until the month before I gave birth. And that was only to just put a thought in their head.
GL!
We did (17 months apart) but they were not the sentimental type nor were they "from the baby" because that wouldn't have meant a thing to him.
They were something fun for him to do while he visited me in the hospital AND they were gifts that would occupy his time long enough for us to have a nice visit before he became board.

Yes, we/baby gave him a cabbage patch doll. He liked it but I think he would've been okay without it.
I had a scheduled c/s so we had new books at the hospital to read to him every day when he visited and I also had daily small gifts for him to open at my mom's house.
Honestly just talking to him often about the upcoming baby is what prepared him. When he met DS2 we said "This is Asher" and there was never any question to him that this was the brother we talked about and he was going to live in our home too. I asked DH to show DS1 how to kiss the baby while we were at the hospital and he has been kissing him all day long since then!
