Cereal in last bottle feeding?

I have not done this, and I believe I read that they do not suggest you do this.  However, I give LO 1TBSP of single grain cereal mixed with breastmilk around 6pm and then she has her bath, bed routine, and last bottle around 7-7:30p but she is sleeping awful...she always wakes up by 11 or 12 screaming like shes hungry.  From that point on she is usually up every hour from then on, she NEVER settles back down for the rest of the night.    So I was wondering how many of you mommies have given your LO cereal in the last bottle feeding? And if so, how much and does it help??

Re: Cereal in last bottle feeding?

  • Nope, never.  Only for reflux babies.

  • Not me, the point is to teach them to eat from a spoon, not to fill them up to sleep. Can you try to get her to go back to sleep without feeding her? I usually wait awhile before I go in if DS wakes up during the night, gives him a chance to go back to sleep on his own.

  • my LO has reflux and we do put cereal in some of her bottles but not usually the one before bed.  She was already STTN and I do not want the creal to impact that.  The cereal is to help with the spit up and she was not spitting up during the night so no need to put it in the last bottle of the day.
