Daycare Urgh!

Today's my first day back and work and Callum's first day at daycare.  I sent him with 4 bottles  -- 3 I expected him to eat and a 4th as an emergency.  The 4th bottle was fresh breast milk and while two of the other bottles were defrosted breast milk.  My plan had been to use the emergency bottle all week long assuming he didn't need it.  It was in a different size bottle, I labeled it as "Fresh - Please use last" and when I put the bottles in the fridge I put it in the back.

So what happens?  They used the fresh bottle during one of his feedings.   They did apologize and felt bad about it and I'm not really mad, just annoyed.  They haven't gone to the 4th bottle yet, but I'm not sure if it's one of the defrosted bottles or if it's the other fresh one I left.   I might be able to tell when I go to pick him up, but if not I'll have to throw away a full bottle of potentially fine milk.  Urgh!

  • That is such a bummer!! Are you going to be sending frozen everyday? I would mark those bottles for yourself so you know. Sorry. :(

  • If I sent defrosted milk and they didn't use it, I would just send it the next day and mark to use first. You have 48 hours to use it after defrosting!!!

Really?  I thought it was only 24 hours?  That's great if it's 48. Unfortunately I already poured it down the drain, but its good to know moving forward.
