Alabama Babies

should I be concerned?

DH is set to go to NCAA indoor track/field championships 2 wks before my due date.  I've expressed to him that it makes me nervous - what if I was early and went into labor and he's in freakin Fayetteville, AR!?!?!?  Not the easiest place to get to and from AU.

I feel like he should find someone else to go.  But football and track are SUPER demanding and not sure how he could work it out (which pisses me off on another subject as there should be someone to back them up when things like this come up!!!!).  I wouldn't feel as uneasy if I had family in town........

Re: should I be concerned?

  • I see your concern...if it was further than 2 weeks beforehand I'd say let him go...I'll be honest you probably won't be 2 weeks early BUT I wouldn't want to risk it either you know?  Hopefully he can find a replacement, but if he can't is there anyway you could get someone (a family member, a good friend) to come stay with you while he was gone...Just in case?

  • I think my mom is more concerned b/c I was early and my nephew was early (all around 2 wks) but I could be totally different.

I have plenty of friends around of course, and could probably find someone to be "on call" for me if need be.

I guess it just makes me super nervous.

I'm going to talk to him again about it.

  • Odds are everything would be fine-but I would be nervous too.

I know that is no helpful advice!  lol!  But I don't have family in town either, so I know how you feel.

Well good luck with it.  I understand the nervousness.

  • I've never been through this before(obviously)  so I think I'd be concerned too...hopefully you guys can work something out so that he won't have to go...keep us posted!

yeah, I knew you could relate.

Ash and Candi - I emailed him.  He's hoping the OB can give us some advice or see how far along I am closer to that time.  He said he would figure it out if the OB said for him not to go and/or it looked like I would be measuring early.  He knows I'm nervous about it.

  • I would probably be a little concerned.  With Ava, my water broke at 37 weeks, so you never really know.  I was in labor a really long time with her though and my parents had a 7 hour drive and they made it in plenty of time.
