Current popular names?

I posted this on baby names board also.  What names (boy and girl) do you think have become really trendy lately?  It seems like a lot of ppl on the bump especially are naming their LO's the same thing.  There are lots of names I liked but see them so many times over and over that I'm starting not to like them.  Just wondering what you all thought were becoming super popular???

  • I actually found a website where you can search the top names nationwide, then statewide, citywide and even down to your hospital!!!

DH and I loved Chloe, Isabel and Emma but they are all top 10 in the nation, city and even hospital I will deliver at so we nixed them!!

  • For boy names I seem to see a lot of "den" or "son" names:

    Ayden, Jayden, Grayson, Bryson, etc..

Girl names seem to be getting shorter:

    Ella, Eva (Ava), Emma,Sofi, etc.

I love all of these names though:)

Someone posted a thing on the other board with the top 2009 names but I'm thinking it's more on the bump that certain names are more popualr now bc a lot of the names I see on here are not really popular on that list.

  • I see Claire on here all the time!  But I don't know anyone with that actual name...  I also see Linus and Liam a lot. But I don't think any of those names are on the top list

Ok now I'm curious... what's the website?

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I've noticed alot of Olivia's and Isabelle's... and for boys, I do agree on seeing alot of Jayden, Braden etc.. names.

Mind you our boys name we have picked out does end like that too but that's ok with us = )

  • Check out the social security administration's website. Every May they release the official top 100 names list based on SS cards issued for that year. They also break it down by state, which is really cool.

I think for boys, names that end in -en or -an are very popular - Ethan, Aidan, Jayden, etc.

For girls, it seems to be names that end in a - Ella, Isabella

here's the gov site... 2009 isn't up yet though. You can look up by state which is nice... unfortunately my 2 favorite names are in the top 10 :(

  • Wahoo!

The last however many years my girl name is in the 200's in popularity and my boy name is in the 100's for a few years but like 50-75 for a few yrs.

    YAY!

  • We're naming our DD Riley, which is rapidly gaining popularity. It's in the top 20, according to Social Security. Last week our local newspaper had 8 birth announcements and 4 of those were girls named Riley! Yikes! I hope the trend cools a bit, because we really like the name we picked.

  • you should get the book "Beyond Ava and Aiden..."  it is a cool name book that has lists of names based on all types of things, such as trendy now, nerdy names, uncool names, going to be trendy names, etc. etc.

its by the people who created the site nameberry.com

  • The ones I see pop up over and over again on the bump:

Girls: Addison/Adelaide/Adelyn, Sophia, Madison, Abigail, Lily

    Boys: Jacob, Owen, Aiden, Jackson

I actually like most of these names, but my husband likes more unusual names (my stepson's name is Terjae), so none of these will fly.
