I know this has been posted a million times before but I can't seem to find any of the threads.
My house is either all messy or all clean. I am not a good housekeeper... it usually looks fine but I know it's not clean-clean and I want it to be, all the time.
I know that once baby comes, all schedules will go out the window but in the meantime, I want to develop some kind of weekly (and daily) cleaning schedule so that I KNOW when I go into the hospital to have baby, I'll be leaving a clean house.
Can you share your cleaning routines? Daily and weekly? I know this is time-consuming but if you get bored, I'd greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!
Re: Cleaning Schedule...Help?
I clean the bathrooms on weekends so DH can watch DS. I vacume everynight after he goes to bed- because he's a little freaked by the vacume right now. I also swiffer the kitchen floor 1 or 2 times a week. On the weekends I may do big clean of the whole house if I am in the mood.
As my next door neighbor told me- once the baby arrives- your house will never be clean again- how true that is.
There you are! Here is what was sent to me before. It is a site that helps with that. It helps me out!

I love the website organizedhome.com - they have some great ideas for cleaning schedules and even some great printable lists!

I made a list of everything that needs to be cleaned in my house and separated that into three categories - daily, weekly, and monthly (i.e. dishes have to be done daily, but cleaning the bathroom gets done weekly, and the fridge gets cleaned monthly). Then I put that on a spreadsheet. It looks a little like this:
Daily:
Dishes M T W Th F
Vacuum M T W Th F
Pick up clutter M T W Th F
etc.
Weekly: Monthly:
Clean bathroom M Clean Fridge Week 1
Mop floors T Clean Stove Week 2
Clean all bedding W etc.
etc.
This was REALLY helpful. I don't feel quite so overwhelmed, and I feel like I'm getting something accomplished when I mark off each chore. I can send you my spreadsheet, if you want, so you can adapt it to your needs. Just drop me a PM with your e-mail.
HTH!
I love this idea! PM Sent!
Thank you!
After DD goes down for her nap, I clean the kitchen: unload/load the dishwasher, do any other dishes, wipe the table and counters, sort the mail, etc. Takes about 1/2 an hour.
After DD goes to sleep for the day, I clean up her play area and tidy the rest of the downstairs. Takes about 15 minutes. I may also pay bills (or Nest!) at this time.
Friday nights after DH comes home, I do all the laundry -- usually 3-4 loads. I like only having to do it once a week.
Saturday, I vacuum, dust, clean the bathrooms, and possibly (although really not as often as I should) mop the floors. I make a grocery list and DH takes DD out to do the shopping -- that's when I clean. DH takes out the trash/recycling and cat litter.
I think that's it. My motto is keep it simple.
Monday- Dusting
Tuesday/Wednesday I don't do anything because DH is home.
Thursday- Errands, grocery shopping
Friday- Vacuum, mop, sweep
Saturday- Wash sheets, towels, etc.
I do a load of laundry every day.
I have just adopted a system very similar to this myself and I already feel more organized. I would recommend something like this, it keeps your mind more focused because week by week, you know what you need to do and can carve out time for other things like play time, activities, errands, etc.
