What did your babies sleep in during the day? We had a one story house when Henry was a baby, so I just wheeled his pnp into the living room, or our room.
I know they can't sleep in the top part of the bassinet, should I just plan on using a bouncy or swing? I know when they are a little older, they will take naps in their rooms (hopefully!) but what do you do in the early days?
Re: If you have a 2 story house, newborns sleeping downstairs
upstairs they have their cribs, downstairs we have 2 pack n plays set up all the time.
when they were newborns they each slept in the bassinet part of the pack in play (one in each one). Once they hit the weight limit on the bassinet (I think 15 lbs? I can't remember) we took the bassinet part out and they now nap in the pack n play itself for naps.
Sometimes one would fall asleep on the floor/in the swing/ or bouncy and we'd just leave them there and take the other one in to the pack n play.
We are a long way off from them napping in their rooms. That probably won't happen until they are in big beds and can walk up and down the stairs themselves.
I will have 2nd pnp in guest bedroom downstairs. If I am down stairs and its nap time, I don't have to lug them down...
Idk if they are upstairs and I have to go down. I think I may just really rely on my monitors and just have to go upstairs as necessary. I do not plan on leaving them upstairs for long periods of time while I am downstairs.
I agree, we were in a tiny apartment, and I still made sure Henry was in the same room with me at all times.
I guess they can just sleep in the bottom of the pnp after the 15 lbs. (Honestly, my bassinet part is sagging just from one baby using it, so I don't even think I'll use it.)
I had one PNP that they both could fit in at first and they napped in there. Then it was either the swing or bouncy, whatever they were in and fell asleep in. They are at daycare now during the day and sleep in cribs there so I am trying to get them to nap in cribs at home now. And yes, it is a lot of running up and down the steps. But hey, that is my source of exercise these days.
the twins nap downstairs - unless i have a lot of stuff to do upstairs - b/c it's just too much work bringing them up/down and me having to gup and down if they fuss at all.
they used to nap in the bouncy seat and swing... sometimes on the boppy on their belly... lately they nap on the couch - i moved one of the couch pillows off so it's wider- and i put them both on together - and prop up a changing pad on the end so they can't roll off. They love to sleep this way - and i can sit right next to them if needed for fussing, etc.
Griffin used to do the same thing- around 15mo we started only crib for naps since he took only one nap that was longer - so it wasn't a lot of up and down.... we'll do the same with the twins.
Wow!
You might find that a bit more difficult to maintain when you have multiples.
I didn't realize this was so weird! I didn't take him to the bathroom or anything. LOL. I obviously don't expect to be able to do that with twins, but I would like them on the same floor, esp when they are little.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
I just started to put them down for naps upstairs in their cribs...but before it was: newborn lounger, boppys, bouncy seats, PnP and swing...whatever worked!
Adding: It's a great workout to go upstairs and downstairs every time they fuss! lol...at least that's what I keep telling myself
