Baby Names

Ansley

What do you think about the name Ansley?

It's always been a favorite name of mine. I've seen it spelled Ansleigh too.

I shyed away from the name because I know that if we have a boy now or in the future it will be named Anthony and I just didnt know if having an Anthony and an Ansley would be too similar.

What do you think? Do you like the name?

And do you think it goes okay with Anthony (assuming we're lucky to have both a boy and a girl one day)

I guess who is to say we'll have both a boy and a girl anyway?

Re: Ansley

  • I like it but I have always seen it spelled Ainsley....if I am thinking of the same name.

oh, yeah, i've seen it spelled that way too.

  • I think Ainsley would have a better chance of being pronounced correctly.

At first glance, I read Ansley as" Ann's lee

    Not a bad name, though.

I think Ainsley and Anthony is a little too precious sounding together, but I'm not a fan of rhyming names for siblings.

How is Ainsley pronounced though? I would would it pronounced Anns- lee not ains-lee.

Definitely understand the notion that the names are kind of too similar in a way that might be annoying. But I kind of like it.

    I've always heard it Ains-lee.

I kinda like them together, too, but don't at the  same time, if that makes sense? :)

Yeah, I totally get you. I sort of feel the same way.

I like the idea of Ansley better than Ainsley still. I guess b/c we're from the south and I just think Ainsley sounds super hick. lol.

  • My cousin's kid is Anslee (Anns-lee). I hate it, actually.

Ainsley (Ay-ns-lee) is okay, it sounds a little nasal coming from most people.

Ashley and Audrey are much better choices, IMO.

  • I like Ainsley, but I will never use it because of  a girl I can't stand. I wish I could though.

  • Is it supposed to be pronounced as Anns-ley or Ains-ley?  B/c spelled this way it looks like Anns-  It is similar to Anthony, but I think it goes kind of nicely, so maybe they'll be close (if you have both)  My cousin named her daughter Ainsley when she was born 6 yrs ago- still think it's a little odd, but it's grown on me...
