Worried about DDs milestones

DD is about to be 7months and can't sit up on her own. If I put her in the sitting position she sometimes can stay for a second and then falls to the side. She also doesn't try to crawl and instead will roll on her back and push backwards towards whatever it is she wants. She is very into standing and really only wants to do that..she is very strong and can stand with little support but I worry about the sitting. Am I being silly?

    DS was still kind of tipsy at 6 months, but got better at sitting very quickly. We put a boppy around him to help him learn how to keep his balance. I would give her lots of practice sitting up with and without support. She will learn!

    As for the crawling, DS is just now getting into the crawling position. I wouldn't worry about crawling yet.

    It is hard not to compare your LO to others.  But the simple fact is, she will sit when she is ready.  There is nothing you can do to make her do it, but I promise you, it will happen (and likely) very soon!!!

    Still sounds in the normal range to me. Every baby is different. There are some on here that are way advanced for their age, I wouldn't compare yours to them.

    yes you are being silly!  A didn't sit well on her own until 9-9.5 months.  We would NEVER put her on a hard surface b/c she eventually would topple over....we still don't really... As soon as A was sitting well, she started crawling and pulling herself up to standing and going from laying to sitting all within 1.5 WEEKS!  We think we will have a walker soon and she just waited til the same 2 week span to do it all....  GOOD LUCK :)

    nah, it's normal to be concerned and compare your kid's milestones to what books say or other friends babies too. my nephew didn't sit will till he was almost 8 months old, and then took off crawling a few weeks later. my daughter sat well at 5 months with minimal support but has yet to start crawling. she does enjoy standing up with our support and can hold onto her activity table things by herself for a little bit. she also rolls around to where she wants to go which apparently is also normal too. she'll get there soon enough though :)
