So, strangers always make nice comments about our boys. But during the Holidays, we received the following statements about K2:
1. Oh such a cute baby. Is that a boy or a girl?
2. Oh my. She is soooo beautiful!
Very well-meaning people and believe it or not, I do/did not take offense.
But, DH wants to cut his hair. He says it's because the hair is getting in Baby's eyes, but I think it bugs him that people mistake him for a girl.
I personally am not ready yet to cut his hair and do not care if people think he's a girl. I have always said that he's a very pretty pretty baby boy. But obviously, IF it was getting to be a nuisance and bothering him (which he hasn't really indicated that it is) of course I would do it.
Here's a recent pic of him and his hair:
WDYT ? Give it to me straight!

Re: Clicky Poll: My baby's hair - to cut or not? PIP
I actually hate when people leave their son's hair so long (Cough*CelineDion*KateHudson*cough), but it's not my kid so why I care so much is beyond me.
However, K2's hair in that picture is NOWHERE near what I was picturing when you were sharing the comments above it. Dude, that kid looks like a boy, those people are stupid. Tell 'em to shove it. His hair is fine. And you KNOW I'd be telling you what I think, my dear!
I got called a boy for the first 2-3 years of my life for my lack of hair and my sister rolled with it ("Your little brother is so cute!" Her: "thanks!" Jerk).
Personally, I don't like long hair on little boys. I would cut it.
But if you guys like it, he's your kid. I know that some people hate the mohawk that Jakob gets every summer, but it doesn't stop us
I don't think he looks like a girl, but once DS's hair was creeping into his eyes I knew it was time to cut it. His hair was long and I LOVED it after! He looked SO cute and much more "clean cut" if you know what I mean. And it was also easier to keep it neat, which I was a big fan of. Sitting in the car seat it would get all matted in the back and it bugged me.
I say get it trimmed. He'll look even more adorable with a big boy hair cut.
And DS was right at about 10 months I think.
I don't think it's that long at all, and I think he looks like a little boy.
People are stupid. I know Ocho resembles J in many ways, but all the people calling her a boy get old. I'm not ready for her first haircut either...we actually picked up some headbands yesterday to keep her bangs out of her eyes so we could postpone.
I know that doesn't help you with K2, but I really don't think his hair it too long at all!
That's not long at all--I say leave it until you're ready to cut his hair. We didn't cut Little Man's hair until it was so long it was curling around his ears.
:-)
one word.
samson.
you just never know
This...maybe trim the hair that falls on his eyes if it bothers your DH
I'd cut it only if K2 seems bothered by it. If not, leave it alone. He's adorable!
I got stopped in the grocery store the other day and this older lady was oohing and ahhing and asked "Girls?" I said nope. She looks at me like she was completely shocked and says "Really???? Well, they just look so pretty."
I took it as a compliment.
I'm sorry, but your boys do not look like girls. They look like little boys. Cute, handsome boys, but boys nonetheless.
Spencer apparently looks like a girl too, though. He gets told "what a pretty little girl!" or we get "oh fantastic, you got one of each!" and I'm like, "WTF, which one is the girl?"
Thank you. And I agree. I do not understand these people. Especially when the guys are dressed in obviously boy clothes. And judging from a few of your blog posts, Spencer is alllll boy too.
I don't get it.
Yes, he'll be glad to show you, if you aren't too sure still...
Thanks for all the votes and responses.
Emer,Bride - The funny part is that you're right, I love that clean cut look and I plan for both of my boys to have nice, short hair for as long as I'll have a say. My problem is that he's just growing up too fast and I want to wait a tiny bit longer for him to look like a little boy versus a baby. kwim? I love his baby fine hair.
We didn't even cut K1's hair until he was 16 months old and it was curling at the back.
Joyco, Feisty -None of your boys looks anywhere close to female to me!! That's just silly that people think any of them look like a girl!!
Gabrielle and all - I think my solution is going to be to (safely) try to trim the wisps of hair on his forehead to make sure his hair stays out of his eyes and then go for the real haircut at 12 months. Maybe by then I'll be able to come to terms with the fact that my baby isn't a baby any more. <sniffle><sniffle>
It's hard considering how quickly it's gone by and the fact that he might be my last child!
Thanks again all!
