Did you get a "push gift"?

When DS was born, my SIL asked me what I was getting for my "push gift". I had no idea what she was talking about. Apparently we are supposed to get a gift from DH for the work of labor... I definitely agree with that! DH was planning on getting me a ring with DS birthstone in it for Christmas, but we ended up not even exchanging gifts. So I guess I can call the ring my push gift.

Just curious if anyone else has ever heard of this or gotten one themselves?

I was totally not expecting anything nor did I want anything but DH surprised me after G was born. ?He got me a Michele watch.

My DH got me a diamond and topaz (her birthstone) necklace that says "Mom" with matching earrings. He also let me hire the newborn photographer I wanted. Wink

I didn't expect anything but my DH is a romantic, he's always surprising me with thoughtful gifts and stuff like that, so this isn't out of character.

My DH got me a gift certificate to get a manicure and pedicure and a big beautiful bouquet of flowers! So sweet! I had a c section and he said when I was feeling better he would watch the baby so I could have some me time.

DH got me a diamond necklace, it was a push present and a birthday gift, I was induced on my birthday, but he would not have spent that much if I wasn't giving birth!

My DH got me a David Yurman noblesse necklace with LO's birthstone on it. We joke that it wasn't a "push present" since I had a c/s.

I wasn't expecting anything. DH surprised me with a beautiful Tiffany & CO watch. Although, I don't think he was really aware of the whole "push present" stuff. He's just a really sweet hubby! He also got DD a silver spoon.

I think that naming it a "push gift" or "push present" is silly.

That said, when DS1 was born DH had diamond earrings, flowers, and my favorite chocolates waiting for me when we got home. It was really sweet and meant a lot to me.

That Christmas he got me an opal pendant (DS's birthstone), and after that we agreed that for each child I'd get another birthstone pendant. That is what we did for DS2

I received one, but it was not expected. After LO was born, DH gave me a ring and necklace with LO's birthstone. I was okay with getting my baby...that was a big enough gift for me.
