Both kids in one room?

We have the option of moving DS into the guest room and making it his, but I was leaning towards putting them both in the same room.

The nursery is the biggest room in the house, so space isn't a problem. Plus, the baby will be in our room for the first couple of months at least. And while I do worry about them waking each other up, the other room is adjacent to the nursery, so I'm not sure they wouldn't anyway.

Any pros/cons to having both kids in the same room? What do you do? (Or plan to do?)

  • DD and #2 will be in the same room.  we don't have any other choice though.

  • The girls are in their same room. It's okay. There have been several of times they wake eachother up. If I had the option of them each having their own room, I would rather have that, jmo though.

  • Yes, we have both kids in the same room. We wanted to keep our guest room open since we do get a lot of overnight visits from out of state family and friends.

Our situation might be a bit different. We bed share with DD since she is off and on with the transition into her bed. Right now, DS is in his bassinet and DD is in bed with us.

They don't wake eachother up now both being in our room so I don't think it will be an issue when they're both finally in their room together. I so can't wait for that day!

  • So far so good for us, it is rare that they wake the other. Even through crying fits.
  • We just moved into our house in July and painted DD room in August purple and green. We are not repainting, so if it's a girl they will share a room, if it's a boy, he will get the guest room! lol

  • We were in a similar situation. Our 2 other bedrooms share a wall and the nursery is slightly bigger then the guest room. We were torn on whether to have them share or not. In the end, we decided against it. Sleep is very important to a person's well being IMO and I didn't want to do anything to compromise sleep for any of us. Overnight guests will just have to crash in another room.

It worked out well because we are expecting a boy and I wouldn't want DD to share for long with a brother anyway.

  • Glad to hear it is going well for some of you. We only have 2 bedrooms so they will share a room, but I will keep DD in our room as long as I can in the bassinet.
