How many bottles do you need? I know I should have some, for pumped milk and juice and water as DD gets older, but how many are enough? I was thinking 6...
it depends how often you plan to bottle feed. One would have been enough for me because I attempted to get DH to feed one bottle per night. DS was never a big fan though. 6 should definitely be enough.
And juice & regular milk never went in bottles - only in sippy cups.
We rotated about 8 to make it easier for washing and having some extra just in case. I did not introduce her to a bottle until 7 months though, so we didn't need them for awhile.
It depends on if you plan to breastfeed right up until switching to a sippy. I BF'd ds for 7 months, and then used a bottle/formula after that. I think we ended up with 9 bottles....to make them last a little longer through washings. I wouldn't stock up on them all at the beginning though because they may be picky and not like the bottle you pick.
I would seriously buy two until you find out if baby accepts a certain bottle- bottle feeding did not work out for us, and I have quite a collection of bottles of every brand. Get two or three to get started and you can always run out and get more.
It really depends if you will work or be a SAHM. I needed about 4 for DD at daycare, so if you don't want to wash them all each night.... plus I had different bottles to pump into than I fed DD with.
DS would have nothing to do with bottles the entire time he was BF. Be sure to buy few in the beginning; the breast differs greatly from the nipple on a bottle, and some babies don't like it at all.

As an EBFer I had only four. I pumped while I was working. Two bottles with me, two full bottles left at home. DH was the only one that ever gave DD a bottle. We only did this for 3 months then I quit my job. Juice and water never went into a bottle. We used Playtex Coolster Tumbler to start then removed the rubber part inside so that shecould spill it if she knocked it over. She learned real quick to keep the cup upright!
I agree that six sounds like plenty, I wouldn't get any more than that. As other's have mentioned, it is really hard to predict what bottles/nipples your baby will prefer. We got lucky and she liked the Avent ones from the beginning.

I had 6 5oz bottles and 3 9oz bottles, and it worked out great for DS. Granted, he only goes to daycare Mon/Wed/Fri, and EBF on Tues/Thurs. But on daycare days, he never had more than 4 bottles, so even having 6 on hand would work if you don't mind washing bottles every night...

I should add that even when I pumped I still hardly needed any...I would jsut buy 2 and then see how everything goes.
