For the mamas using glass bottles, which brand are you using? I can't decide because I want one that makes the silicone covers. I've heard good things about Dr Brown but I don't think they make covers for them.
I've used Dr. Brown's when I was a nanny, and loved them. DH and I have decided to use glass as well, and I didn't even think about this! I googled and found a bottle cover that says it is universal. HTH
We used the 4oz glass Dr Browns for B when he was little. They didnt have that size in the BPA free yet, so we went glass. We both loved them, and kinda wished we would have gotten all of our bottles glass. They were very durable and we didnt use any covers for them.
Maybe a dumb question, but why use glass? Is it 'healthier'? Or personal reasons?
Before all the bottles went BPA free that was a big reason. I think most people dont like the idea of warm liquids in plastic...it can release toxins into the formula/breastmilk.
I used born free glass bottles and then switched to the plastic born free after my son threw his bottle and it shattered into a million pieces! Born free did not have the silicone guard when my son used the glass, but I think they have one now. I like the born free bottles a lot. They are pricey though. I got them as a shower gift. I would recommend them!

I'm really liking the LifeFactory Bottles since they come with the silicone sleeves.

I'm an environmental science & health major, so naturally I want to use glass bottles to avoid bisphenol-A (BPA), phthalate, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polycarbonates, etc... over time the plastics will break down and the chemicals can leach into the liquids.
I used the glass BornFree bottles with DS, and only ever broke one, when I dropped it onto our concrete driveway. They do make silicone sleeves for the glass bottles too.
Question though, since you seem well-informed on plastics -- any thoughts what I should do for sippy cups now that DS is past the bottle stage? I haven't been able to find any good alternatives to plastic sippy cups. We're currently using BPA free Born Free sippies, but I'd still like to stay away from plastic all together....

I've heard that the stainless steel is the way to go. I think born free makes them too. I thought I saw one on babyearth.com

I have several of their regular bottles and they make a 12oz sippy cup that I've given as gifts... you get get extra nipples for it as well. They sell it in several colours.
