My mom thinks I need a bassinet, and admits I will use it for only the first 2 months. I told her I was looking into a pack n play that comes with a bassinet attachment, but she thinks it will be too big/heavy to move around the house postpartum. I would like to avoid buying both, as we don't really have the storage room.
We do plan on getting a crib.
Let me know your thoughts ladies! Thanks!
Re: Bassinet vs. Pack 'n' Play
this exactly ... We're using a pack n play ... we'll be able to get more use out of it than a bassinet for a longer period of time ...
I have no idea if I will want to move it around the house or not - I guess my mom moved us around via bassinet when we were infants or else I don't know why she would mention it!
But the ones I have been looking at do have wheels - in case I get the urge to wheel it around.
We plan on using the PnP or our stroller bassinett on a stand for the first few months...I don't want to buy a separate bassinett for our bedroom that we won't need after a few months.
i'm having this same argument with DH right now. He thinks play yards are too expensive and wants a bassinet or moses basket.
He is just being difficult right now, he wont listen to me when i say that we will only use the basket/bassinet for a few months, but we can use the play yard up until baby is 25-35 lbs.
That right there is the reason why i don't want a bassinet, you use them for a few months only, and can cost the same as a cheaper play yard which you will use for a year.
I'm on the fence about this as well. We are getting a PnP, but not sure if we are getting a bassinet too.
Is the bassinet part of the PnP safe for the baby to sleep in? It doesn't have sides to it, just is a shallow spot to lay them in. I know they aren't moving around yet, but I fear that out LO will somehow fall out. am i being too paranoid?? haha
