Do the terrible 3s start at 2.5?

Or has by child beome posessed by a demon? It is only 1 PM and we have hd two attempted outings, each one entailing massive, flailing, screaming fits that ended in my carrying him up our crazy steep, icy hill with him over my shoulder, screaming and kicking me. He has also become a complete disaster in restaurants lately, and he used to be Mr. Perfect when eating out.

I am so done with today.

  • Ours started a few months before 3 and it seemed as if he was possessed overnight as well. I will say that he has changed back into his old self just as quickly about 3 weeks ago. We still have the occasional meltdown, fit, etc but for the most part he's able to go into public without me fearing what he'll do.
  • 2yrs 9mo to 3yrs 9mo --- pure HELL!
  • Oh God, this is what I fear. We are usually out all day and I am now scared every time I take him out of the house. Also, by far my biggest weakness as a parent is lack of patience, and I am finding myself getting angry with him so easily. It sucks :(

  • Oh, Henry!   Let me know if you need Kate to lecture him.  She's been telling all of her friends, "You get what you get and you don't get upset."  Or "YOu need to use your words."  Usually right after she has smacked them or taken a toy or cried herself.  LOL.

  • Yep, they sure can.  DS started at 2.75 and DD is in the throws of it now at 2.5.  Although, I have to say it's much easier to deal with the 2nd time around.  It is still reallly annoying!

  • In my experience, yes. I thought things were better at 3.5, but then the last couple weeks after Christmas have been rough. I'm hoping it's just the excitement of the holidays and things will get better again soon.
