So....unfortunatley my body is not cooperating with this TTC thing and I am on my second round of Provera. My first cycle off of BCP was 68 days and this 2nd cycle was 40 when I decided to end it with Provera. I am hopeful that this second round will kick my ovaries into gear!
For those of you that had to use Provera.....how many cycles did you have to use it? Tell me your story....give me some positive hope!
Happy 2010 to everyone!!!
Re: come in Provera girls.....
HTH!
Yeah, I know that Provera only helps me to end a long cycle. My doctor is mentioning Clomid since I am not ovulating, but I am kind of holding on to the hope that my body will kick start with Provera and begin to ovulate on its own. Wishful thinking, I am afraid.
I have heard of it happening though, so I was wanting to hear some feedback from women that that has happened to.
Congrats on your BFP after trying for such a long time.
This for me as well. I tried Clomid unmonitored with my OBGYN and never ovulated. I did end up ovulating on higher doses of clomid BUT only after being closely monitored (Ultrasounds to check follicle growth) follwed by trigger shots.
I know the thought of moving on to clomid can be scary, but if you do it I highly recommend going with an RE. The extra monitoring really helps. There are only a limited cycles of clomid you can have and it would suck to use them up on unmonitored/annovulatory cycles.
I ovulated on Femara on my own, without trigger shots. There is no limit (that I know of) of how many femara cycles you can do. If you wont be monitored I would recommend Femara. It also has less "moodiness" side effects.
Interesting thing happened to me with Provera. 1st time took it to induce period followed by Clomid CD 3-7. No apparent signs of ovulation or my period by CD 28 so MD said to restart my cycle again and took Provera again on CD 29. This time, my period never started and I was charting my temps which kept going up up up. So I thought that was strange, took a pregnancy test and got a positive. Turns out, I just happened to ovulate on the 1st day that I took the Provera. I know Provera is not supposed to have any effect on ovulation but who knows...I have yet to talk about this with my doctor to find out what she thinks happened. So...I was very surprised considering I had an appointment scheduled with a RE for January 4th. Instead I now had a prenatal appointment for January 13th.
Basically, anything can happen and the body is going to do whatever it wants to do.
Wow...that is great! Congrats! I am hoping that happens for me. I know that it is very unlikely that you can get pregant while on Provera so you may just be a lucky one! I will keep my fingers crossed for myself though!
If you ovulated on the first day of taking the pills, you probably would have ovulated then anyway.
Congrats!
This.
My RE also said that since femara does not have the negative impacts that clomid does and the "shorter life span" (ie/how long it stays in your system) that the number of cycles on it does not need to be limited the way clomid does.
