    King Ranch chicken cass

    Italian crusted pork chops

    Shrimp Etouffe

    cheese enchiladas

    Dinners this week are:

vegetable stir fry, spinach-mozzarella turkey meatloaf, and shrimp scampi with snap peas

  • Aug Bride

What is your recipe for Ham and Cheese Quiche?  It sounds delicious!

  • Chicken Enchilada's (MIL's recipe, the best enchiladas I have ever had!)

    Pasta and bread sticks, salads

Thai Chicken Burgers, corn on the cob, french fries

    Falafel

    Chicken Frankie (Indian Dish)

Chicken (Korma, Vindaloo, etc.,), naan, rice

  • Grocery list items that we always have:  bananas, ground turkey, deli meat/cheese for sandwiches, bread, pasta, frozen veggies.  I save on chicken breasts by buying the "club pack"/bulk pack so it's only like $2/lb compared to $4.  My dinner ideas for the week are:  teriyaki chicken, sloppy joes, spaghetti, and fajitas. Sometimes I try to only buy stuff that's on sale and then make dinner ideas out of that.

  • I've cut my grocery bill a lot by couponing, and by paying attention to the prices (food prices fluctuate a lot). I wrote about my change in my grocery shopping in my blog: https://beingwhatiwanttobe.blogspot.com/2009/11/little-change-gives-me-hope.html

I try to base my meals on the items I can get the best deals on. If I find a good price on something (especially meat), I will often stockpile (buy extra) and freeze it to use later.

  • What's usually on yours?  In the winter: beans/lentils, stew meat, vegetables, ground beef/veal, carrots, onions, celery, potatoes, turnips.

Name some dishes you make.  Soup (with the beans/lentils), stew, chili, long-cooking bolognese sauce.  Pretty much anything that required the stove or the cooktop to be on for a while.

  • What's usually on you's ?
    ground beef/turkey
    steak tips
    whole chicken
    bags of frozen veggies
    potatoes
    pasta

Name some dishes you make ?
    - shepards pie (ground beef, veggies and mashed on top)
    - meatloaf
    - meatballs/pasta
    - I do a whole chicken every week, then i make chx, rice and veggie soup after we eat. the soup is great for a dinner or lunches during the week.
    - beef stew

  • items that are ALWAY on my list: Mini Wheats, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, a lemon, apples, bagels, spinach (wash it yourself and its waay cheaper) baby carrots, fresh ground coffee, V8 - these things i swear i buy every time i hit the supermarket!

Buy as much as you can in big club packs, like diapers, wipes, feminine products, detergents, ect.

i find these dishes inexpensive and yummy: soup - i make tonnes of soup, it goes a long way and its always nice to warm up a bowl for lunch or whatever, chicken fajitas - for the 2 of us i use only 1 chicken breast and lots of red/green peppers, chilli, salmon (with a dill sauce),

  • List typically includes:  chicken breasts, hamburger meat, brats, pork roast, beef roast, bag of russet potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, onions, fresh green beans, frozen sweet corn, apples, bananas, bread, milk, orange juice, pop tarts, cereal, frozen pizza, hamburger buns, bottled water, chips, deli turkey & ham, canned soups, canned chili beans, baked beans, mac n cheese, velvetta block, flour tortillas, Uncle Ben's boxed wild & long grain rice (sooo good).

Now that I'm making my own baby food I also get stuff for DS like:  pears, squash, frozen peas, canned pumpkin, avocado, etc.

Dishes I make often:  Baked Honey Mustard Chicken, Chili with cornbread, Corn Chowder, Soft Tacos (beef or chicken), BBQ Pulled Pork Roast, Beef Pot Roast with potatoes, carrots & onion, Lemon-Pepper Honey Chicken in pasta with white sauce,  Sloppy Joes, Burgers, Brats, Jambalya, Pizza.

Wow!  That took awhile to type out.

ETA:  I also use coupons ALOT!  Clip them from ads and coupons.com has some good ones too!  I save like $50 per month by using coupons.

  • I like to pick out new recipes and base my grocery list on that. Chicken breasts and ground turkey are usually on our list. Every now and then we'll get a pork or beef roast. We like to keep 5 out of our 7 dinners vegetarian if possible, but it doesn't always turn out that way.

Our dinners this week include: stuffed peppers, black bean cakes with baked sweet potato rounds, sweet potato chili, pizza, caesar chicken pasta salad, black bean soup with baked tortilla chips, eggplant scampi over couscous (we made this with shrimp for Christmas Eve and I thought I'd try a vegetarian version).

ETA: We keep our grocery bill down by keeping most of our dishes vegetarian and by shopping for our produce at the local farmer's market.
