It was pretty easy when she was bfing. Now with bottle feeds I have no idea. If she sees a bottle and starts squealing, then I know she's hungry. She seriously will go nuts when she sees a bottle if she's hungry. Otherwise I go by time. If it's been at least 3 hours, I'll offer and see how she does.
When she was bfing though she would latch on to anything (once she tried latching on to my nose lol!)
Excellent question- my LO use to give me all sorts of hunger cues (hitting the corner of his mouth or rooting) but stopped completely when we started solids at 5 months. I just try to stick to feeding him on the same schedule every day.
I know he's getting hungry if he's getting whiny around the 3 hour mark after his previous bottle. The only thing that pleases him when he's like that is food.
When he wants to nurse, he'll put his hand down my shirt and suck his thumb! Or he'll climb onto my lap and try to snuggle in. For food, I just offer around the same time every day or if I'm hungry. I figure we usually eat around the same time so I offer him a snack/Puffs first and if he's eagerly going for it, I make him a meal.
