s/o slings: anyone have a "hotsling"?

I have one of these but I don't think I can use it for my LO yet as he is still just under 6lbs.  Does anyone have one of these and can tell me how they like it?

TIA!

  • I just returned mine today.  Olivia hated it.

  • It seems it's better when they're older. Layla did great in it, but that was after she was able to sit up on her own. I didn't have it when she was an infant.?

Lexi HATES it and I am not able to use it at all.

I really want a Moby, but no one around here sells it.. and I don't want to buy it online :( ?

  • Interesting that so many LO's didn't like it!  I need something to use with her now.  Maybe I will check out a Moby.  Thanks ladies!

  • Both DS and DD like it.  However the only thing is that it is size specific so DH had to use another carrier when holding DS or DD.

  • Check out a Mei Tai Wrap.  Our LO loves it and it can be used for a long time.  I've heard with the Moby that the fabric will stretch over time the heavier they get so you won't be able to use those as long.

  • My LO loves it!  He was only 4 lbs.15 oz. at birth, and I used it just a few days after he was born, and he loved it.  I recommend them, but I guess it just depends on your LO.

You used it when he was that little?  I was afraid to try him out in it b/c it says for babies 8lbs and up.  But, maybe that is just said to be on the safe side.  Maybe I will try it soon.  How did you place your guy in it?

  • If you're interested in a moby, you can DIY.  I found fabric at Joann's and used the 40% coupon.  I ended up with enough fabric for 2 Moby's for $12.  I just bought 6 yards of fabric and cut it in half so each piece was 30 inches wide. It works perfect and LO fell asleep as soon as she got in it.  I figure if I don't use it for a long time I didn't spend that much on it.

I am not sure I am that crafty, but maybe I will try it!  Thanks!

Yea, I guess he was just a little over five pounds when I put him in it.  I borrowed it from my sister, and she didn't say anything about the weight restrictions.  I don't see why they would put weight restrictions on there, I guess like you said to be on the safe side, but I just put him in the cradle position, I think that's what they call it, and he was fine.  I would give it a shot, your little guy might like it.
