It seems like most people have their NB sleep in the room with the parents. Is this true for all of you? If so, when did you transition into the nursery?

I've been asking my girlfriends this same question, and a lot of them had them sleep in a bassinet next to their bed, or in the bassinet part of the pack n' play next to their bed.
X sleeps in our room at night in a mini co-sleeper next to our bed. He is just over 4 months and is still in our room. It's probably time for him to sleep in his crib but i'm not ready yet. he does take naps in his crib.
Gigi slept in a bassinet in our room until about 7 weeks. We then moved her to the crib (she had a few naps in the crib leading up to the transition). She's been in there ever since.

I have this same question! I'm pretty sure I'll want LO in our room at least at first, but it's hard to know whether it's worth it to buy a bassinet/co-sleeper if we end up moving to the nursery after only a short period of time. I'm also worried that DH will want her out of our room sooner than me, if we disrupt his sleep too much.
Emmeline and I slept in a recliner together for two months...I had bad hips and a bad back after she was born and have to have surgery and physical therapy, so I might be a bit of unique situation....but once I was able to be pain-free again, I moved the both of us into our master bedroom and used a Arm's Reach co-sleeper in the free standing bassinet position...saved my back and I felt good about having her near, but not too near.
The plan was to move her to her room/nursery when she was 4 months which, according to research, was the most vunerable time for SIDS. We hit 4 monhs, and the 4-month wakeful, so we waited.
We realized though that her nursery is by the front door and our room is in the back of the house, so I didn't feel safe with her that far away (we have several closets, a laundry room, and two bathrooms between us).
So in our room she stays. She's 11 months now, and the three of us do great.
For the first 2 weeks Jackson slept in a SnuggleNest in our bed with us. Then from 2 weeks to 4.5 months, he slept in the co-sleeper next to our bed. Now he is in his crib for all naps and at night.
Max slept in a bassinet, next to our bed for the first 3 months. Now, he sleeps in his crib, also in our room. We live in a one bedroom house. I would love to put him in his own room, but alas, I cannot.

Walter slept in his crib in his room from hour 1 of being home. we had a tiny house at that time, so it was kinda like he was in our room. To this day, mom and dad's room and bed are play time and he won't sleep in there. Kind makes me nuts when we want to stay in bed and snuggle!

In a SnuggleNest in the bed for the first 3 weeks. Then in a bassinet at the foot of the bed until 3.5 months. Then we transitioned to his room and then into the crib around 4 months.
Sophie slept in a bassinet in our room for the first six weeks, and is now in her crib in the nursery. She had no issues with the move and I would have moved her sooner, but thanks to the holiday craziness we just now got into a fairly stable routine. I have always put her in a sleep positioner though, so maybe that has helped since she always feels snug whether in the bassinet/crib/pack n' play
Ben slept in the PnP bassinette in our room for a little bit, and then the bouncy seat and then a car seat on the floor. He stayed in our room til a little over 6 months. He was STTN and I didn't want to mess with it.
Cooper sleeps his first stretch in the PnP and then I sleep the rest of the night on the couch in the nursery with him. For some reason, I can't get him back in the bassinette after the first stretch, or if I do, he only sleeps another 1 1/2 hours max.
There's no right or wrong to where your baby sleeps - you'd be surprised how much it changes when you actually have your kid here. I never thought I'd want my baby in my room for 6 months! And I thought co-sleeping was a weird hippy thing. Turns out I was totally wrong. You do what works for your family and whatever gets you the most sleep.
Robbie slept in his crib from day 1 being home. We had heard from friends and family how hard the transition was so we just started in the crib right from the start. Now Robbie goes to sleep so well in his crib he just lays right down most nights and recently he has gone up to his crib and says nite nite.

We had a moses basket for him at first, and really thought he would sleep in our room, but didn't make it through the first night. He made so much noise in his sleep that we couldn't sleep at all. So we put his basket in the living room, and there he stayed until he was almost 3 months, when his nursery was done and we moved him up there to his crib.
Holden slept in the bassinette part of a pack n play next to our bed until his first wake up, then he slept in our bed with me until morning. We did this until he was um... 8-9 months old? then we transitioned him to his crib, the transition was way easier on him than on me though
Gigi slept in a bassinet in our room until about 7 weeks. We then moved her to the crib (she had a few naps in the crib leading up to the transition). She's been in there ever since.
Cruz slept in a bassinet in our room for about the first 2 weeks after we got home (he was already 4 days old when we came home from the hospital) No one told us how LOUD babies sleep! I was up every second because he would make a noise and I was scared something was wrong. We finally put him in his crib and all of us slept better!
I'm not sure what we will do with baby #2 because I'm worried that if it cries it will wake Cruz up?

Toddlers sleep HARD. My sister's 2 year old was asleep here last week and they accidentally set an alarm clock and I heard it across the hall in my room and it was LOUD. Toddler never woke up!
A slept in the bassinette in our room, right next to my side of the bed until a few days before she turned 6 months. We moved the basinette into her room for a few nights before actually transitioning her to the crib itself. (just in time too since she started pulling herself up to stand in bed 2 weeks later!
Ryan is still in the bassinette in our room next to my side of the bed. Like Angel mentioned, we have hit the 4 month wakeful so it's nice to just grab him and pull him into bed to nurse and we both fall back asleep quickly. So half the night in the bassinette and half in bed with us. I'd like to wait till 6 months to transition him as well, but he already doesn't fit into it. His feet are sooooo touching the bottom.
When I had DD she hated being flat so for the first three months she slept in the fisher price soothing motion glider (Best baby purchase ever in my book) next to my bed then I moved her into her PNP which I also kept in my room until she was about 6 months. I would've moved her into her crib and own room sooner but DH works nights and I liked having her near me. This time around I plan on moving Ian to his room once he starts sleeping through the night.

Bassinette part of the PNP for about 10 days but I nursed him in his room in my chair so we just moved him to his bed. Way more efficient and I could still hear him from my bed since the rooms were so close. I couldn't nurse in our bed, too uncomfortable.

Ads slept in the bassinet part of the PNP in our room for about 3-4 weeks. Then we moved the PNP to her room and she slept in that till about 5 months old where we moved her into her crib.
First night in our room, then from there he went into his own room as he was such a noisy sleeper! We put him in the bassinet part of his stroller that detachs into his crib though as he was just too small to go straight into his crib on his own.
He is a great sleeper & has slept through the night since 5 weeks old.
