Eczema in diaper area

It was recommended in a post below to use Lanolin on baby's rough spots due to eczema. Is Lanolin CD safe? For pockets? My intuition says no.

My DD has rough spots (which seem like eczema) right where the leg opening encircles her legs. We've been to the derm and he says just use sposies and a steroid cream as needed. Which I did to clear up the initial rashy areas b/c she was scratching herself until she bled (no dresses allowed for this little girl :( ). This is not a solution I want to keep returning to.

Any suggestions? We've already taken her suedecloth CDs out of rotation just to see if she's sensitive to those. Still dealing with the redness/rash. I'm at a loss and about thisclose to giving up CDs (and I'm a stubborn German).

Re: Eczema in diaper area

  • most natural diaper creams have lanolin in them, but the straight stuff might be too sticky for a cd.  i'd just use a liner you don't mind tossing if necessary.

  • My DD gets a rash in this area too.  When it gets bad I put her in PFs for a day or however long and it clears it up.  It's just irritation from the elastic which of course won't change because they need to be tight enough to work!

So that's my solution.  I hope you find one that works for you!
