Mission de-Christmas accomplished

All decorations are packed up and put away.

I dunno about the rest of you, but I am so over Christams this year.

Re: Mission de-Christmas accomplished

  • Ugh I need to do this today and I am so not looking forward to it.  I decorate every single room in the house and we had a big party yesterday which was why I kept the decorations up.  Good for you for getting it all down already.  And I agree, I am so over the holidays.

  • Same here.  I took me around 5 hrs yesterday to take everything down and put it away - but I'm happy it's done.

  • Ugh, I put it off too, and I didn't have a reason to do so like you did. Just lazy and tired - I spent Christmas in my hometown where my dad was in the hospital the whole time and it took me days to recover from that.

I think my kitty misses the tree, but she'll get over it.

I am sorry to hear about your dad.  I hope everything is alright.

  • Please please please come over and de-Christmas my house next.  I am sitting now looking at my tree with full-on resentment.  I can't motivate!

Thank you. He's out of the hospital now but needs rehab to improve his motor skills that declined over the past several years due to several other issues (COPD, emphysema and some others) He was admitted twice in December, first for a episode of trouble breathing, and then for a fall from which he couldn't recover.

He has caused several minor auto accidents this year, and on this admission it was decided his driver's license needed to be taken away. As you can imagine, he's really pissed. It was not a good holiday for anyone in my family.

  • I had planned to get the tree down this weekend, but yet it still sits in the living room. We didn't put much up. I am thinking though I won't get it down today if I don't get off the couch. O well.

  • We ended up skipping Christmas and took the tree and decorations down as soon as the tree drop off site opened up in our town (the 26th I think it was).  I decided that I'm not going to decorate at all next year unless we have something to be happy about.

  • I did all of that the day after Christmas. In my family its bad luck to keep the tree up into the new year.
