We are getting ready to move, and I'm just curious what other people pay. Upgrading to a bigger house will be wonderful but the bigger payment freaks me out!

$1253 ...for a 4bd, 2 full, 2 half bath, 3 floors and finished basement. Supposedly 2 car garage..more like 1.5...would be a great house if we were in a different area.

We're looking at houses in a price range where our payments won't go up more than $200 a month. Our rent in our tiny 2/2 is $865 a month. There are a lot of foreclosures in the area so we can find a great home at a good price. My BIL just bought a 3/2 @ 1,700 sqft for $95,000 (their payments are about $765 a month! Fixed rate too).
$1100, but that includes our monthly tax escrow. I think our mortgage payment is somewhere around $800. 3bed/2bath 1400 sq foot house with 2 car garage

That's one reason to love WI...cheap cost of living compared to some.
$950/month for a 3,000 sq. 3 bed/2.5 bath with a walkout (our lower level is unfinished except for a laundry room and bathroom.) It also has a 2 car garage.
We currently pay 1500 for a townhouse 3bd, 21/2 bath. We just bought a house in South central Michigan a 2,8000 Sq ft on 1 1/2 acre, 4/5 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath and full finished basement on a cul de sac. We will be paying 2000 a month.
Our home is owned. 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 2 car garage and finished basement but it's only 1750 sq ft. small compared to all of you.
And by own, I mean, my we live in my grandmothers old home that has been paid off for years...teehee. We pay her a reduced $600 a month rent so she is helping us out until we find a home and we're helping her out with the extra cash a month because her house sits here because she refuses to sell it or rent it to strangers.
We'll be looking to buy within the next 6 months and will be trying to keep our payments around $800...doable if you live in northern Ohio
$1028, not incl. taxes or condo fee, which come to about $415 xtra a month. We don't escrow our taxes, just pay it at once after our tax refund comes back But we live in a 1100 2-bedrm townhome and we want to move to a 4 bedrm house, so I estimate our mortgage will be around $2500, taxes around $200/month and hazard insurance (mandatory in FL) about $200/month. Big chi-ching!

$330 a month. It's 150yrs old and we bought it to restore it. So far I've only sunk about $10,000 into it. My boyfriend is an electrician and he's also done the plumbing throughout. He use to work for a restoration company so he knows what he's doing. I bought it really cheap and will hopefully make about 5X's what we paid for it. It's super nice. 3 or 4 bedroom 2bath one with a gas fireplace and clawfoot tub in it. Huge master bedroom, living room and kitchen.

We rent. $1100 for a 3 bedroom, 1 bath apartment on the second floor of a 2 family house. We have access to the backyard and driveway. It's my aunt's house so the rent is dirt cheap for NY. We have a huge living room and separate dining room plus a large porch/front room. An apartment this size would go for at least $1650.
$1300 without taxes for a 1600 sq. foot 3 bed 1.5 bath in CT. We put down almost 1/3 of the house price though, so it would be a lot higher if we hadn't! House prices around here are pretty steep and it didn't help we bought when house prices were peaking...I think our house is now worth a good 50k less than what we paid for it, so I'm thinking we'll be here for a while.
We pay $1700 for a 2100 sqft, 4br, 2 1/2 bath, 2 car garage, teeny lot in the burbs. Really, though, you can pay as much or as little as you want, depending on how long you want your mortgage for, how much deposit you can make, etc. We do the accelerated weekly payments, to reduce the overall cost and length of time paying.
