I tested + for strep b. My ob said that it's nothing to worry about, it's common, and they will treat me with antibiotics during delivery. However, I googled, and now I am VERY worried about it. I didn't realize that it can cause such problems for LO!
Were any of you SB+, and if so, did your LO show any symptoms after delivery? Thanks!
Re: Question about Strep B from a 3rd trier
It's really not a big deal. You just don't labor at home, you get to the hospital as soon as everything starts and get hooked up for antibiotics.

Googling is horrible for stuff like this!!

I think your chances of giving it to LO if you don't have meds are 1:200, and less than 1:500 if you get the abx.
I wouldn't worry about it - some Mama's refuse the meds when + because they don't like antibiotics - try not to worry!!
The chances of LO getting it without meds is 1 in 1000. With meds is 1 in 2000.
DD #1 contracted it from me. Yes, its scary. Yes, there is a reason they treat for it. DD spent a week in the NICU on some pretty powerful antibiotics, but when she came home, all was well. Its something to be aware of, but not something to be super worried about.

I was positive plus I'm allergic to penicillin. So they had to give me a different antibiotic that was scheduled every 12 hours. Well, my labor only lasted about 11 hours so I was only able to get one dose. They just kept us an extra day to make sure LO was ok. Everything was perfect!
FYI - this doesn't mean you will be positive with every pregnancy.
