I need bra help.

This doesn't belong here, huh? :)

Ok, I'm a 34-36 DD. Or DDD. I apparently have a short torso/narrow shoulders/something going on that makes it impossible to find a bra that will adjust small enough to actually give me any lift, if you kwim.

Additionally, I hate underwires. They annoy me and never fit me right and I promise I've tried 'em all. I like the soft cup styles, which of course is hard to find in even a D, never mind a DD.

I have looked everywhere (in-store) b/c I can't imagine buying a bra online. I've looked at Kohls, JCP, Dillards, Macy's, Target/WM, Victoria's Secret and then some. I have bought at least 4-6 bras that I've ended up returning after wearing for 30 minutes at home and realizing they're either ridiculously uncomfortable or I'm falling out of them (which is usually the case). I have tried on dozens and dozen of bras in stores.

HELP ME.

I am now down to 2 Bravado nursing bras that are getting a little ratty and one I found at Kohls that is "eh". I like it ok, but I definitely don't love it.

Anyone impossible to fit also or have any suggestions?

  • i don't know if you have an intimacy near you, but they are the BEST! i thought i was a 34B...turns out i am a 32DD and i NEVER would have known without getting fitted there. the fittings are free, and though the bras are pricey they are so so awesome.

No, I've never heard of that store :( I wish I had someplace like that near me. I have gotten measured before, but not recently.

  • try Lane Bryant if you have one nearby.  When I was still small enough to fit in DDD that's where I got mine.  I loved them!
  • do you have a soma?  i love their bras.  here's a LINK to a bunch of pretty wire-free ones.

Do they have them in 34s or 36s though? I think I tried there once and they started at 38 or so...

their website shows them starting at 36 :-(

  • Sounds weird but do you have a bra store that fits women who have had breast cancer? They tend to have very personalized service and bras of many sizes/needs. They aren't just for prosethics (sp?), at least my local one isn't. GL, I hate bra shopping- it ranks right up there with jean shopping.

Sometime when I'm by there, I'll pop in there and check just in case. Thanks.

This!  It's worth EVERY penny!  I struggled with underwires too but these people really know how to find the right fit.  The also can fit sports bras and nursing I think. It's worth signing up for their e-mail list too.   I get all kids of savings alerts.

ETA: just saw you don't have one near you.  I know they have a web site and Nordstroms also carries many of the same brands.

  • Lane Bryant probably will laugh you out of the store because your band size is smaller (or at least that was my experience in trying to find a 36I when I needed one).  I highly recommend Nordstroms if there's one nearby for a fitting.  If their bras are too expensive, I've had great C/S at breakoutbras.com and they have smaller band sizes with larger cups which is harder find in some stores.  I currently have a 34K, 36J and 36L bras right now depending on the day and milk production level.
  • Sorry no help but I so feel you. I have the exact same sholder problem and add to that that my with is 30 - 32 with the same cup size. Why don't they make more bras in a small band big cup combination!

good luck! Hope you find soemthing that fits.
