Baking for Party = EPIC FAIL!

Grrrrr.....Sad

I attempted to make "Magic Bars" which I've made several times in the past.  The only problem is I always seem to burn the edges and they get stuck in the dish.  Well, I tried to make them in a tart pan instead and it's one big mess..... I can't possibly bring these to my friends.  Even though they still taste delicious, they are all gooey and I know my friends won't touch them - they are quirky like that.

Oh well, I guess DH and I will have to eat them....but now I don't know what I can bring tonight.  I guess I'll have to bring some wine.  Maybe it's not a bad thing - two of my friends are 7 months pg (they are due a week apart) so having a few drinks might make the night easier.

Re: Baking for Party = EPIC FAIL!

  • I've got a great EASY mexican dip you could bring.  Has five ingredients: taco sauce, cream cheese, regular cheese, and refried beans (black olives are optional).  Mix the taco sauce, cream cheese, refried beans, and black olives (if using) into shallow pan.  Cover with 2 cups shredded cheese.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.  Serve with fritos, pretzels, doritos, etc.

  • I think the wine will be great!

Or that taco dip the previous poster suggested would be good.

Or you could whip up a batch of fruit salsa and make some cinnamon chips. A *little* more healthy and a lighter option.

  • I LOVE all of you girls for giving me the credit to think I actually have those ingredients in my house for an emergency such as this!  HAHA!

I have no additional ingredients in my house to make any of the delicious options you've given me, but I will definitely keep them in mind for the next event I atttend (esp that Mexican Dip - YUM!)

I'll bring a bottle of wine - it's a bottle I've been saving for a special occasion (I meant to bring it to NY for Christmas but I was halfway there when I remembered it!) so tonight will be a good night for it.

Thanks again for all your suggestions!
