What is the difference between...

a pack-n-play and a portable crib?

DH's grandma keeps saying that she is going to buy us the portable crib.  Is that the same as a pack-n-play?

    The one that my sister-in-law registered for says portable crib, but it's a pack-n-play.

    I think a lot of people use the terms interchangably.  But we actually have both.  We have a PNP, but we also have a crib with wooden slatted slides -- it is smaller than a full size crib, it on small casters, and breaks down to a few flat pieces for transport.  We currently have that one at my parents' house for naps and the (extremely rare) overnight.

    A portable crib is smaller than a pack n' play but has the same function. We have a portable crib for our living room and a standard size pack n' play for our bedroom.
