freaking out: follie scan (SAIFW)

Sorry I don't mean to need to be constantly talked off the ledge through this IVF cycle.

Went in for my 2nd follie scan this morning - I went from 3 follies on Wednesday to SIX today (smallest is 12 and largest is 20). The lead follicle is indicating that I may have to trigger tonight. I'm waiting on my bloodwork to see where my progesterone and e2 levels are.

Praying that my body can hold out till Monday.

I'm so devestated that I've only produced six follicles. I had this many on just my injectibles/IUI cycle last month.

The nurses kept saying this was a good response but I can't help but feel like it ISN'T a good response.

Advice and opinions welcome.

  • What's wrong with six? My little one is a product of six follicles! Quality over quantity always!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Are you serious?! That makes me feel better. I keep reading about girls on here that got 13, 20, 30. I felt like my body didn't do what it was supposed to do.

  • I think six is a good number.  Like Krissy said, it is quality over quantity.

FWIW, I had a cycle where they got 17 eggs, but only 5 were good.  So I'd take six good ones over 12 immature/crappy ones anyday!

    Best of luck to you!

  • Totally serious. I never responded like most the girls on this board do. But I have seen IVFs with 20 follicles fail and I have seen and experienced IVFs with 6 or less follicles succeeding. Hang in there - it can work!!!

  • 6 isn't bad. hang in there - think positive!! fingers crossed for you!
  • Krissy is SO right, quality over quantity can be the way to go. I've had two fresh cycles 1 with 18 eggs retrieved and 1 with 30 retrieved and I'm about to move on to fresh cycle #3. More eggs does not always = success. I hope you've got some rockstars in that bunch! Good luck

  • There is nothing wrong with six!  I know you have heard it a million times but it really is true. You want quality, not quantity!!!  Good luck!
  • Trust the other girls sweetie! 6 is a great number! It really is quality over quantity!

    I'm excited for you!

  • thanks girls, sorry to be a crazy person. I need to stop comparing my cycle to what I see on the board. I have nothing to reference this against - just what I see here.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and advice.
