...BIG fail! What a mess! Tried a small gdiaper on my just over 3 week
old--the gdiaper actually contained the mess, but BF poop was all over
the insert (cloth) and the plastic liner (it did stay off the cover
amazingly). I could handle that, but it became a mess after trying to
get the liner unsnapped from the cover--what is the trick? Seriously, I
was gagging and getting yellow mustard poop all over my hands, almost
dropped the thing also. Told my husband I would sell all the CDs I
bought (40+, all different kinds) and that I had made a huge mistake.
He told me to try CDing again in another week or so...I need some
reassurance that it gets better and that I will learn the tricks for
removing pocket inserts and unsnapping gdiaper liners and grobaby
inserts without a mess...
Re: First attempt at CD...
I agree with your DH, just try again in a few days. I found the CD learning curve to be a little overwhelming with a newborn and it took me a few weeks to get the hang of it. Hormone changes and sleep deprivation don't help the learning process. You'll figure it out. Keep trying.
we haven;t begun to cd yet - but our teacher at our cloth diapering class said that gdiapers are not good for newborns and shouldn't be used until LO is a few months old.
I plan to use disposables for the first 2 months - and then switch to a mix of BumGenuis/ Fuzzibunz/ and pfd with covers. Good luck!
I too have read that Gdiapers are pretty useless on the little ones. I plan to use fitteds like Kissaluv contours with covers (wool and PUL) as well as prefolds for that stage. Because then I can just take off the fitted and throw it in the wetbag and reuse the cover until it inevitably gets soiled.
I agree with your DH, dont give up. Trust me, you will get blow outs and messes like that with disposables too. So you have to do something. I nanny for an older disabled child who is in sposies. And he blows out of them at LEAST once a day. And this is a teenage boy so the poops arent small. So there are certainly pro's and con's with both. But either way you are dealing with poop.
