my baby is eating practically all regular food...anything and everything. But I worry she is given too much "junk". My hubby or mom or friends tend to give her many bites of their desserts, etc. Here's an example of a day (and every day is similar):
breakfast:
6 oz. milk, 1/2 cup kix cereal, slice of wheat bread
lunch:
6 oz. milk, 1/2 cup pasta with tomato sauce, 1/5 slice of garlic bread, applesauce
dinner:
6 oz. milk, 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich, 1/4 cup peas, and several bites of hot fudge sundae.
snacks:
gerber puffs and 100 percent juice watered down
Is this ok?? I try to get people to stop giving her junk like the sundae but it's really hard to catch people doing that. So she basically gets a real dessert almost daily.

it's not a sundae every day, but lately it's been dessert every day. She's had ice cream, shakes, pumpkin pie, cookies, etc. It's not a ton but I didn't know if it's really bad for a 12 month old.
Also do you guys give your kids mac and cheese from restaurants? I feel like it's all junk and fear it along with most other restaurant kids meals. I've been sticking to grilled cheese. any idea what's the healthiest?
oh she loves eggs and eats lots of eggs and plain cheese too. and yogurt.
I'll focus on adding more fruits and veggies as mod suggested. thanks.
we eat out a TON and it was easier when I gave her all the gerber healthy stuff. Maybe we'll need to adjust our eating out to keep her healthy.
I think it looks light on proteins and veg too. Sub out the kix for a healthy cereal or oatmeal. Mix in some pureed fruit there too. Pasta sauce is a great way to mix in carrots and zucchini or any squash.
Snacks you can add in some fruits- pineapples, peaches, pears, anything.
If you eat out a lot then you really need to research your restaurants and find what's best for your child. A lot of times we end up feeding DS off of our plate, but we might eat out once a month.
Watch your yogurts and applesauce too. They can contain a lot of unneccessary sugars. I buy the plan yogurt with nothing but whole milk and add in my own fruit purees.
To answer the question about desserts: If the rest of the meals were well rounded and varied I don't see it as a huge problem. I try to look at things on a weekly basis instead of just daily.
It sounds like a lot of carbs (cereal w/ toast, pasta, etc.) and sugar (applesauce, juice, sundae)
Does your baby get other protein sources?
I try to balance each meal with whole grains, proteins, calcium and fresh fruits/veg.
Ex.
Breakfast: eggs, toast w/ applesauce, kiwi, milk
Lunch: grilled cheese, black beans, peas, carrots, milk
Dinner: chicken, broccoli, brown rice, avocado
Snack: yogurt, wheat germ, grapes
I agree with some of the pp, it sounds like a lot of carbs. A lot of empty carbs (including juice) can be just as bad as desserts.
I really try to make sure that DS gets protein/veg/fruit at every meal. Carbs I give sparingly, because they tend to not be as nutritionally beneficial.
Ex.
B - eggs, yogurt, banana, milk/soy milk
L - cheese tortellini w/ sauce, avocado, clementine
D - chicken, broccoli, zucchini, cottage cheese, milk/soy milk
S - string cheese, grapes, edamame, hummus
