Which car seats can rear face the longest?

I really want to keep DS rear-facing until he's two years old if we can, but am not sure which car seats have the highest weight/height limits.

  • This is what I have been researching too.  The true fit and my ride 65 both go rear facing until 40 pounds. I'm not sure if there are any others that go longer.

  • The true fit does not go to 40 lbs rear facing. It is the tallest shell. The  marathon doesn't go to 40, either, and has very limited leg room.

The radian XT and 80 RF to 45 lbs, and the radian 65 RF to 40 lbs. The graco myride and safety first complete air RF to 40 lbs. I'd go with one of the radians.

I've researched my arse off on convertible seats. We're getting the XT for our 2005 Explorer, and the XTSL for my car. The XT and XTSL are basically the same seat (both FF to 80lbs, the XT RF to 40, XTSL to 45) but the XTSL has "SuperLATCH" that can be used on autos newer than Sept 2005. I had no idea that LATCH couldn't be used on many convertible seats past a certain weight limit, but with superLATCH you don't have to do a seatbelt reinstall at that point.

  • I love this feature of the new radians. My radians are older, so I don't have one, but I wish I did! The seatbelt can be a total PITA with the radian in some cars!

    Interesting info. Thx!
