It's only happend a handful of times starting in the middle of my 2nd trimester...
I wake up in excrutiating pain after stretching my legs. It feels like a severe tightening, like a really bad charlie horse in my calves. The 3 times its happened my "Ouch Oh My Gods" have woke up DH and he immediately helps & they're fine, but last night/early this morning it happend not once but twice and these pains were worse than ever. It's now the middle of the afternoon and the leg that it happend too is still tight but only painful when I walk so I'm pretty much limping from the couch to the bathroom but staying still for the most part til it stops.
Has this happend to anyone? I didn't think Charlie Horses were a pregnancy symptom or do you think it could be something else?
Re: has this happend to anyone?
Charlie horses are def a pregnancy symptom. First, when you strtch make sure you don't point your toes, flex them up toward your body. Also, drink tons of water and get extra potassium (bananas are a good source). Stretching your legs before you go to bed can help too. I had a bunch in 1st tri, but since I have only had 1.
They're charlie horses/cramps. Make sure you are getting plenty of water and potassium. I wake up almost every morning with them despite how much water/potassium I take in.
Charlie horses/leg cramps most definitely are a pregnancy symptom! I had one so bad once that three days later the pain/knot still had not gone away!
Nope..i had them quite a bit. You need to drink more water and eat some bananas-the potassium is suppose to help with the charlie horse.
I've been keeping a glass of water by bed and I also learned to stretch differently-It also most like stretch your body without stretching your legs or try flexing your feet towards you.
Feel better
My charlie horses were not just momentarily painful, they aftermath would last for several days.
I have learned to NEVER EVER stretch your legs with pointed toes!
I get them so often that I don't even have to get out of bed anymore to fix it- I don't even have to open my eyes! Now, more often than charlie horses, I get this cramp where my foot turns inwards (kind of sideways) and it's so annoying!
I just put my knees in the air with my feet flat and flex until it goes away. I am back asleep within minutes
